Salukis head to Frostbite Falls which actually isn't Frostbite Falls this time around, supposed to be a balmy 35 degrees on Wednesday.
Panthers have won 8 of 10 and sit a half game behind Loyola for the league lead.
Last Meeting:
Northern Iowa beat SIU 69-68 at the Banterra Center on January 15th. Marcus Domask led Salukis in scoring with 23 and Lance Jones had 20. AJ Green led Panthers scorers with 22.
Panthers Key Players:
AJ Green: 18.0 PPG, 3.7 RPG, 2.1 APG
Noah Carter: 14.6 PPG, 3.7 RPG, 1.4 APG
Nate Heise: 9.5 PPG, 5.0 RPG, 1.4 APG

Only thing I hope for is to see us play similar to how we played at Illinois State. I believe we benefit from playing with a little more pace. It definitely helps Jones when Banks is starting next to him it seems

I believe Mullins wanted to start Jones and Banks together from the beginning but starting your only 2 real point guards together might be a little risky. Now it’s probably our best option.
SIU seems to match up relatively well with Northern Iowa, which isn't super long or athletic. Carter has had a nice season for the Panthers and really hurt SIU at key times in the game in Carbondale. Hopefully Southern can do a better job defensively on him and also keep Green from getting going too much. I expect a strong effort from Southern in this one ... hopefully it's enough.

Not expecting to win this one. I'll really only be upset if they're completely blown out of the building, once they lost at home against Northern Iowa and Drake, I'm just expecting those losses to double up. UNI is definitely the team SIU should hope ends up at #3 at Arch Madness though for the reasons you said.
As already mentioned above, Carter really killed us at key moments late during the game in Carbondale, and with his rise it makes it really challenging to throw a double at him when you have AJ Green and Berhow on the perimeter. Nevertheless, this is a very winnable game, and crazily this would be our best win of the year according to KenPom now that UNI (97) is slightly ahead of Colorado (99).
Northern Iowa misses a last second 3. SIU wins 66-63.
Time to step up on the road Salukis! Nice win against ISU Red over the weekend, but put that in the rearview mirror and let's do it again at UNI.
Hope we play well tonight. Reis asking Mullins about pace and potentially beating a good team tonight.
Mullins wasn’t having much of either question. I hope this slow it down offense isn’t going to be a signature thing of his.
Brick City.
Not a great start for the Dawgs. Not that I expected one, but I sure did hope. That is the only issue I have with starting Banks (along side Muila) as that puts 2 guys on the floor that aren't good shooters, putting more pressure on Jones, Domask and Coupet.
It's amazing the difference between the bottom 5 in the Valley and the top 4 or 5
