And another stinkin' 44 point effort. I've seen middle school games with more scoring than this.
When both Jones and Domask struggle (they were a combined 8-29 tonight with 9 turnovers), this team simply doesn't have any other consistent scoring threat. Coming into this game, Coupet was the only other player averaging more than 7 PPG.
I don't see why SVP can't be given more looks from 3, as he's shot 42 percent from out there this season. Let him have a minimum half-dozen shots out there a game from now on if you have to. He only had two shots from distance tonight... why?
You’d think Brown would hit 3-4 threes one of these nights but … never seems to happen.
Will say it again. An AVERAGE valley team beats UNI on the road tonight.
Not sure the Salukis are even that. That’s just a fact.

SIU's best win this year is on the edge of dropping out of KenPom's top 100 (Colorado). Their 2nd and 3rd best win is Valpo (214). They're a below average Valley team right now.
I give the Salukis credit for being able to score 40+ points a game in the shot clock era. You really have to practice to accomplish that feat.

i'd have to disagree with your overly pessimistic take. You could at least give SIU some credit for the great defense they played rather than just saying UNI was bad.
Jones & Domask - 8 for 29, 3-13 from the arc, 9 turnovers
The rest of the team combined - 8 for 19, 4-9 from the arc, 7 turnovers
When our top two guys are both having bad nights, is Mullins even capable of running a play for someone else? We have other guys who can make shots, but when they're either not getting the ball enough, or in some cases not taking the open shots when they've got them, we end up with yet another offensively-challenged game like tonight.
SOMEBODY has to step up and want the ball when Jones and Domask are being challenged all night.

They usually play good defense and play hard.
SIU is not a good basketball team. Everyone can see that.
They are also an absolutely terrible offensive team. Brutal to watch on a pretty consistent basis.

Oh, i agree our offense is offensive to watch. But you make it sound like UNI just played bad and we had nothing to do with it. Yeah, offensively we are terrible at times, but give some credit where it's due, our defense was outstanding.
Is Harvey hurt???....day to day????...done for year?....Career?
One small bright spot tonight is the Redturds holding on to beat Valpo in OT, so SIU stays in 6th place for now, a half-game ahead of both of those teams.
First you build the culture. Good guys, great students, tough as nails on defense.... then you get guys that can do those things and are more athletic, more of an offensive threat etc. You gotta start somewhere, and I think Mullins is doing what he said he would do, he has built the culture, now we just need to start landing some better talent to bring into that culture. I have faith.
The 2022 recruiting thread is much more important than any game thread over the final weeks of the season for this program. The guys play hard and are a likable bunch, but the results are the results with this group.

I don't even know if anyone covers SIU anymore so we may never know. He's likely done for the year though with his kidney issues. Can't imagine they'd bring him back this year.

I said we played good defense.
UNi was trash tonight. I bet even their coach would agree with that, and at home no less.
Game was right there for taking and not just at tHe end either. We had many chances for quite a long time.
