Is Harvey hurt???....day to day????...done for year?....Career?
I don't even know if anyone covers SIU anymore so we may never know. He's likely done for the year though with his kidney issues. Can't imagine they'd bring him back this year.
And you certainly can’t bank on him being an answer if he returns. He’s had maybe 5-6 good games in his extended time in the program, mostly against weak opponents.
Trent Brown needs replaced. He plays hard and I like him but If he can’t make open shots he just isn’t worth anything. He offers almost nothing dribbling the ball. He had a stretch where he had 3 great looks that could have swung the game in our favor and missed every one. It’s not like this is a one time thing either. He rarely hits a big 3.
Also, stop this the other team played bad nonsense. At some point you just have to admit SIU is a tough team that doesn’t quit. Their defense and determination make games ugly. It’s not some crazy anomaly other teams regularly don’t get close to their scoring average against us.
The offense is horrible and we don't value the basketball. We give the ball up WAY too much during the course of a game. Hopefully we land a point guard that has a handle on the ball and can distribute in next year's recruiting class.

On your last point, a lot of that has to do with our extremely slow pace. Our opponent field goal percentage is 44% which ranks our defense 238th in the nation for that statistic.
I see we still have excuse-makers after that less than inspiring performance tonight.
Goodness. Bring on the awful Evansville so we can get a cheap home win Saturday night. 🙄
Not much to add. I thought we put forth a game effort. We were just overmatched (again). Need to sign some better athletes & scorers.
D'avanso?
Hasn't played 3 of our last 5 games and only 10 minutes in those two games. Thought D'Avanzo was decent last year, especially towards the end but fine with playing the younger guys in a lost year.

Mullins looks for every opportunity to play small without a 5 but that lineup didn’t really pay off and led to some easy inside baskets for UNI late, including a dunk by freakin’ Green.
Not sure there are many good choices available in terms of lineup combos with this group. It’s tough sledding against decent to good opponents.
We had a chance to steal a road win, even after a horrendous start. We can't seem to avoid the long droughts, even when we get good looks. I still think Marcus is dead tired. I can't remember him getting his shot blocked so many times. His legs have not recovered from the crazy covid rescheduling and his heavy minutes. We have plenty of good looks to score more points, we just aren't hitting them. We do need Marcus and Lance to hit 15-20 points each for us to have a chance to win against a good team. We played good defense, but our offense was not up to the task.

Another try-hard performance where we fell short. Guys are definitely learning to play a grind-it style, but there’s just not enough guys who can score. It’s really sad to watch this team. It’s a tough watch.
SIU is now 0-8 against the MVC top 5, and 5-0 against the bottom 4. Wild. Not sure it gets more ‘slightly below average’ than that.
I just find it stunning we couldn’t get one top 4 win this year. I thought one game the chips would fall in our favor. The games have been competitive outside of one. This is frustrating. We can get all the ‘great guys’ we want, but we have to land somebody special soon. Watching Missouri State and Drake’s replay right now…they’re on another level. Just having your guys return next year isn’t gonna magically fix this.

Everyone tries to keep it somewhat classy on here, but the hell with finding someone special.
The drop off from our two best to the rest of the team is significant.
And the two best have battled injuries this season and not been that great overall.
Im not sure what has to be done. Do you pull some scholarships, do some guys realize it’s time to leave and play somewhere else, is there an assistant coaching shakeup, is there a change in philosophy?
All of those need to be addressed. What has happened this year is not good and not acceptable and won’t change next year without major changes in roster and management.
Yes, we all love Bryan. Yes, he’s our guy forever.
But this ain’t good. And some stuff must change for the better.
When the only compliments a team gets are “proud of our guys” and “they played hard” and “they never gave up” and “they battled “ —- that’s stuff you say about a high school team who was overmatched.
@gobluesaluki We are the only team in the Valley without a top 4 win over the last two seasons. Even UE beat a 3 seed Missouri State last year. It’s really unbelievable that we haven’t stumbled into a top 4 win . I still go back to the fact that we played one of the weakest non-conference schedules in school history, and only went 6-5 (I don’t count D2 wins). We own 1 win over a team with a winning record. What scares me is Bryan is getting his guys. Domask is the only recruit he has signed that has been consistently a D1 level talent . Remember Hinson signed Lance . This reminds me of Nick Hills first 3 years when everybody wanted him to be successful and was worried he was going to be fired IF he didn’t get the ship righted. He was forced to make MAJOR changes on his staff. A head coach needs a strong staff to be successful, not sure IF Bryan is prepared to make those changes. The heat is really going to turn up next year and with the current roster and the 3 additions for next year I don’t see us being anything but a middle of the pack team. With Belmont and Murray coming on board things are only going to get tougher. Man I hate this I really want Bryan to be successful and I would much rather be posting about us competing for a Valley championship than worrying about us not having to play Thursday night.

You do have to wonder who is out there recruiting these guys, who is judging them and deciding they are mid-major Division I level talent.
Obviously, Bryan has the final sign-off on them. But it really is stunning the overall showing of EVERYONE outside of Domask and Jones this season.
I’m concerned about next year. I never would have imagined that our opener at Arkansas Whatever U would have been telling for this season. Thought it was a fluke.
It wasn’t.
Thankfully, the conference tournament starts 3 weeks from today.
