While there is still room for improvement, the Saluki team chemistry is off the chart!”First you build the culture”.Lance is humble and all class. These players put team 1st. Great culture Mullins is building with really good kids. Setting team GPA records every semester too. Easy team to root for, SIU baby!!!!Lance: not surprised by the win, felt like everyone worked really hard last few months, mentions all the guys who came in and did little things that don't show up on the stat sheet
says the Alabama game was good prep (similar size and D)
You know, EVERY team says that...........but certainly NOT every team lives and breathes it. Just watching the post game celebration and coach chat, EVERY single player, whether they played meaningful minutes or not (or played at all) was fired up. They were engaged. This is certainly a case where a culture has been built and we are now starting to reap the benefits. Hopefully, it is only the beginning.
March on triumphantly!
I thought D'Amico played a very good game. I think he is going to be a very big part of this team moving forward. I was also very impressed with Newton's defense. Lastly, Banks is playing with much more confidence than he has in the last 2 years. We have a very deep, confident team. Need to get Muila back soon for front court depth.
@salukiworld I heard that last night as well and am looking for additional confirmation. Ebube looked terrific in his first start.
I really think they should have done an extension of sorts for going over the scholarship limits.
Like maybe have made it to anyone who was effected by the two COVID seasons would get their own eligibility extended but not count against the scholarship limit themselves.
Between all the 6th and 7th year players and the portal roster management is a massive pain and will be until the normalcy sets back in.
I actually pulled out the 2007 Saluki talk t shirt for last nights game. You are all welcome 😊
Does anyone know the last time SIU was ranked #77 or better in the kenpom rankings?
As far as I can tell, it's 2008 when they went to the NIT. They finished #62. They started the next year in the 150's and never got close until Hinson's last year when they started in the 80's.

I thought the second half last night came down to one word: SENIORS!
Really good midmajors are almost always seniors laden.
Love that interview with Mullins. He says he is happy for them, the players. Then at the end he says we will let them enjoy it tonight, tomorrow AFTER class we will start working on USI. We have the right guy.
Mullins with Harry Schroder of Valley Hoops Insider this morning:
One thing to note is it sounds like Muila could be close to returning. But as we know from Trent Brown last year, back injuries are tricky.
