This team hasn't won a big game all year; the mental toughness just hasn't been there. Coming off a big second half against UNI, if they can beat Loyola at their place they may have finally turned a corner, because sadly this is the biggest game left on the schedule.
We are at 156 and have beaten just two team ahead of us all season. Our best win is over 101.
I think this one is going to be an indication of if there is any hope for the rest of the season. If we revert to the same old offense then there is none, if we start out of the gate with the attacking, high pressure, drive to the hoop and dish or go for it we have a chance. The most effective passes to the post man have been when one of the guards drives to the basket and if covered dishes to Pippen or Bol for a dunk. Also less turnovers that way since we are not trying to force the ball in when everyone knows that is the only thing that offense does.
Unlikely we keep it under 10. Barry will have the players scared playing in a sold out high school gym.

I have a feeling SIU makes this a game and wouldn't be shocked if they won it.
Loyola is coming off a 35-point loss to freakin' Missouri State ... safe to say they have some issues, and especially if Williamson is still out.
Agree it's a "big" game in the context of SIU's chances to be in the watered-down MVC race, or what passes for a big game in the Hucky Hinson era.
Opening line for this one is SIU +7.
Already dropped to SIU +5.5
Might actually be a safe bet to take the +5.5 with Loyola's Williamson being out.

I find it a bit interesting that Loyola's board isn't talking about this game. Already 2 threads about their upcoming UNI game on the 30th...

A lack of respect?

I think SIU actually wins this one, gains more confidence and then has another bad loss within 10 days.

That would sort of be classic Hinson era salukis, win the surprise game then promptly wet the bed in a gimme
Nope I am not trying to kick the football again
Is that good player for Loyola, who didn't play against Missouri State, going to play today vs SIU??

Lucas Williamson.
I believe he broke his hand and is unlikely to play today.

Je$us, could the BBQ salesman ask or get any more breaks? And he still manages to yank defeat out of the jaws of victory.
