Like the fight. Clearly miss Cook! Was So Miss that good with 13 steals? We had 18 turnovers vs their 13...hurt in last minutes of game. Shooting % reversed itself in 2nd half. That surprised me somewhat but a young team learning to play together. Need to get those assists up....
DNP for Dembele. Unless he’s still hurt, this isn’t looking good for Sekou. Not like there’s much size on this roster, and plenty of true freshmen are getting minutes.
Overall, a shame to waste a start like they had today. Ugh.
I wouldn’t look for Sekou to have much impact until next season.
But not playing on a team that is going young and has no legit backup to Benson? In a year where they’re prioritizing developing young guys?
If they think he has a future, doesn’t make much sense to me.
From a development perspective, I think they need to get Sekou some additional minutes as well. Put he and Benson on the floor at the same time, when the opponent goes big or SIU is getting beat on the boards.

Wouldn’t take much to get him “additional” minutes. 😀
The only on court priority for any coach with any team, is to win as many games as possible and play the players who can best accomplish that.

Mullins is going to have to try and win games this year....but now is the time to develop your younger players for the future. Nobody is going to blame Mullins for having a bad season this year. Starting next year, expectations will start ramping up. It's the nature of the beast.

and clearly benson could not accomplish that. 5th year senior can't have four giveaways and four bricks at the line against #275 USM. 😤
Craving a McBride Special!
Good: Harlon Francois showed a gear I did not realize he had in attacking the basket, he almost looked like Lance driving to the hoop. He also looks to be more comfortable shooting the three. Our defense the first ten minutes of the game and the last five minutes or so of the game was very intense, really threw them for a loop to start game. Bad: Benson has weak hands. We got causal with our passes, and there was one instance where it appeared that Lance simply passed it to the wrong guy, an opposing player with no Saluki even close. Their press was very effective against us in the second half. Ugly: their facilities. The ticket office is a little detached building, about half the size of a single wide trailer, sitting on blocks in front on the coliseum, and it doesn’t get any better in the coliseum. Makes one appreciate our place!

There are always opportunities to get players more minutes when the outcome of a game is not in question. "Playing for the moment" has hurt this team for the last 20 years.

That this team sorely lacks interior height and girth, coupled with the fact that Benson plays somewhat soft for a 6'10" center, Dembele can add something to the mix that's otherwise sorely absent. Unless the opposition deliberately goes small, I see no reason why Sekou shouldn't be in the rotation. We've seen enough of Gooch that I feel his playing at the 5 spot outside of extreme circumstances is very detrimental.
Sekou has been a foul machine during his brief time on the floor, but if you're going to allow a currently very poor shooting Trent Brown to work out his struggles to the tune of roughly 20mpg (which I agree with), then you should let the big fella iron out the kinks with some extra tic too.
If we have a shot to finish outside the bottom four in league play, then it's all about development till then. OOC is lost for any purpose other than that at this point anyway.

Agree with this post. If Dembele is healthy now, and he’s still not playing, it makes you wonder if he may be in the doghouse for work ethic or some other reason.
When Sekou shows in practice he deserves more playing time, he will get the time. Pretty simple.
