What an absolutely awesome win. Guys played tough. Banged inside. Kept that intensity.
I really like this UIC squad. I don’t think the Flames were ready for how tough we’d be.
What a great job by the coaching staff these last two weeks.
Bow Em
Key play of the game was Damien Mayo diving out of bounds on the Kennard air-ball and hitting the ball off the UIC player.
That was a Floorburn U. type of effort ... well-done!
I look forward watching/listening to Martin’s play-by-play clip of the ending of this one.
I don't know what's up in Springpatch, but the Bears are taking Drake to overtime. If the Bulldogs blow this one, you might put a fork in any at-large bid. Still a ton of season left, but you don't drop games to teams that are winless in conference play.
Very nice win today! Mayo getting that ball off the other guy out of bounds very well could’ve been the difference. It’s nice to see a hustle play win it for us.
@saluki44 Luke was screaming in the mic - love it!
Mayo has definitely upped his game. Great D effort there to make that play. Whole team played their butts off today. It was nice to see Moreno make some contributions too. 6' 11" in the middle creates problems for the other team.
JH didn't have his best game, but he made some big plays near the end..and big FTs.
That said, the D still has a long ways to go, but 4 wins of the last 5 is great. I think I underestimated our talent level, and there is no substitute for desire and effort, and we really showed that today.
Great effort by the team and the coaches last two weeks. Keep it up!
A road win. Can’t complain too much about it. Should beat Valpo.

Valpo is a tough team and at a place we seem to struggle at. Only get them once this year so could be a big game in terms of seeding
So much to like about this.
Anyone paying attention last year could see that something was definitely building at UIC: at the very least they were heading for top half of MVC status. Doing this on the road is a big deal for this team.
I would not be surprised to see eye-rolling from certain quarters: "Jeez, it's just UIC!" Piss off: this is a very good win for this team.
I like Moreno getting some quality time and coming through, and Sharpe with six assists. (I'm focusing on the less obvious stuff here that gives me a bit of hope for the future--"the future" including this season.)
(Inflammatory political snark)
I also like this UIC team. I "liked" them last year too, meaning I hated playing them.

Not knocking anything….but last years UIC team has nothing to do with this years team….its like SIU. Totally different regime.
I do like UIC coaching hire and direction….but nobody can honestly say “ I saw this coming last year.”

I thought UIC had been picked too low by most of the preseason pundits and fully expected it to compete for a first-division finish in the MVC. The coaching hire there seemed a bit shaky at first because he had been meh at best at UAB, but he brought in some quality talent in the portal and indicated in interviews that he had learned a lot since that first head-coaching stint. So clearly, a very good victory on the road against a team with a winning record -- although I'd venture to guess that there were a lot of Saluki fans among the 2,300 who turned out.
