Good first half, ugly second half. But you're going to have to expect this with this bunch. Inconsistent will be something we talk about a lot this season.
SIU played some pretty basketball in the first half; lots of wide-open looks from 3, which they buried (helped by a poor defensive scheme from the opposition that would've been better suited for guarding "Barry ball"). Rebounding is still an issue. Need to try and get Dembele more minutes. He might be our best rebounder by the end of the season.
The second half was ugly, but the defense was consistently good; which is so nice to see on a team with this much youth. Still in awe of how poised Domask is for a freshman. So excited about this kid! All in all, there's lots here to like, especially without Mr. Cook. This team will be playing its best ball in February.

Likewise in awe of Domask. Will be a force for years to come.
He is a king breeder.
March on triumphantly!

Domask
This is almost unbearable to watch. Outside of Domask and Jones + Benson at times, I don’t see much promise. It’s going to be a long year.
Unbearable? Did we watch the same game? It was no masterpiece, but far from unwatchable. We are without Cook and have four new players starting. 16 assists on 23 baskets. 59% shooting from 3. 89% at the line. 55% from the field. Defense holds them to 35% from the field.
Anyway...I love that we played 12 guys. You never know when you might need these guys and it helps keep kids content and working hard.
I missed the 1st half. In the second half, I watched a dribble exhibition and panic shots as time expired on the shot clock. But, hey I wasn’t expecting miracles this season, as long as they improve throughout the year, I’m fine. Well not really, but that’s a personal problem. Haha
I watched the first half in awe, writing some of it off due to lesser competition than we had seen lately. The second half seemed ragged. McGill took the point a lot and (imo) it seemed that he does not trust Brown much and to a lesser point Francois resulting in Eric trying to do too much himself. It also appeared to me he tired some late in the half. I see a lot of improvement in both Brown and Francois on both sides of the ball. On the whole considering youth and D-l inexperience plus Coach played 12 men last night, it wasn't too bad a night. Also good to see Dembele get meaning full minutes and good to see Davis finally appear.
I don't put too much stock in last night's game. NC Central isn't a very good team. SIU continued to get beat on the boards. Thinking Mullins may want to switch it up and put a couple of low post players in at a time to try and win the rebounding battle.
