The coaching staff should have been switched up after last year.  Now it's year 4 and it's going to be a must this offseason.  This team has zero shot at an NIT now barring something amazing I don't see in the Valley.

SIU has another game in about 22 hours and I don't think Domask has sat once.  Jones/Johnson probably played 35+ too.

45 hours but point taken.

UNLV 56

SIU 49

Final

The Little Rock game was 100% a mirage.

Also these referees are awful. Not the reason SIU is losing but they are not good.

This team was down 8 to Dayton at half. Outscored them by 18 2nd half. Just too many really athletic players with intense D...active hands poking that ball away at every opportunity. They've done a good job limiting Jones too.

We played good D, but scoring 49 points doesn't win a lot of games.

Any minute now I expect a swarm of swallows to fly in and crap everywhere! Yuck!

Mullins won't get the same heat Hinson got but Hinson went 22-10 in his 4th year.  This team is not much better (if they are at all) than Hinson's 4th year team.

This team's done, they'll be better in a weak Valley but not good enough.  They're going to waste Domask/Jones.

Turnovers has been an issue all year.

this is a 500 team in the valley.

probably will finish 5th-7th. I’m fairly confident after watching these last three games.

@mr_woogers that’s what happens when you don’t make a postseason for 15 years. Longest stretch without a postseason in SIU history.

Now averaging 62.8 PPG, dropping down to 293rd in the nation out of 363 D-1 teams.  And if we take away the mirage of the Little Rock offensive outburst, we're looking at a bottom-20 offense.

Pretty hard to win ANY games when you're putting up an average of 55 now.  Looks like another .500 season, another flameout in St. Louis, and another missed postseason.

I'm getting too old for this same ol', same ol' results.

Just don't see how a team that only has 2 legit scorers is going to compete in the Missouri Valley.  They'll win some games just on defense and some random hot shooting but this is the same team they've been for 4 years.  And recruiting appears to be poor based on guys sitting.

We need to find out if recruiting is bad. I feel like older guys are playing and getting a ton of rope just because they’re older.

Those that are consistently producing very little need to find pine.

Jones and Domask are good. Banks is best suited to be a backup PG but should still be ahead of Johnson.

Newton is whatever. A meh Valley player that they took a 1 year flyer on.

Brown is a guy who should he spelling the PG and SG.

Ebube has upside. So does Hornecker. But they are young.

D'Amico is a glue guy who would ideally be suited to spelling guys at the 3 or 4.

Foster Wonders should be getting minutes even factoring in his defensive limitations.

JD Muila is probably their only real recruiting miss and it is just puzzling that he was rated so highly as a JUCO. Possibly Xavier Johnson but mostly...I just don't see what value he provides. He is a decent but nothing special distributor who doesn't score and is not particularly good defensively. He is essentially a slightly older Dalton Banks except not as good.

They have a team made up of two standouts and a bunch of what should be good bench players with solid depth who are forced into roles they shouldn't be.

I think playing Eube, Rupert, Hornecker the whole game could help. D'Amico is not a center!

When your O has little inside presence, you better shoot well the whole game or you're going to lose.

I know Mullins loves D, but you have to score too.

No idea how this is true when they're a 2 man team right now and he didn't even recruit one of them (Jones).  Domask fell into their lap because Northern Kentucky's coach left for Cincy.

Mullins has missed bad on a ton of recruits including Eric Butler who couldn't even play except for garbage time.  I doubt Foster Wonders is here past this year if he can't even see the court.

Can’t believe I stayed awake watching that bore fest. SIU has averaged 55 points the last 4 games.  You knew we were in trouble when we were up only 4 at half when shooting 63% the first half.

I was mostly talking about this current team but fair.

It can't be understated how little talent Hinson left the program with combined with a pandemic throwing college basketball into disarray, though.

With Wonders I just consider it Mullins being stubborn. We have seen the offense he can provide when he has gotten the chance and while his defense isn't great it...like, it isn't the worst I have seen. Johnson and Newton aren't exactly defensive stalwarts either.

I personally think Ebube being hurt has had a bigger effect than a lot realize. Ebube, Rupert, Domask, Jones, Butler is likely this teams best starting 5.
