@insaluki you mean like D'Amico Saturday night that is what I am saying the intangibles count
When you look a little closer at D'Amico's stats Saturday night you will find he actually DID stuff the stat sheet!
In 20 minutes:
3 points
5 rebounds
5 steals!!!!
3 assists
2 blocks
0 turnovers!!!!
0 fouls
That is very Darren Brooks-esque!!!
@resaluki-88 yes and how does analytics count for that
I mean there is rarely a good catch all advanced metric, but the closest one you'll find is the Player Effeciency Rating (PER). It's the closest thing to a WAR that I'm aware of on the basketball side of things, but still doesn't give you a complete picture (few stats do). For me a good indication is a quick look at the box score and the plus/minus to get a feel for how someone played without watching the game (still not perfect).
The misconception I think a lot of people have is that these stats are looked at in a vacuum. I think they are best used as another tool/input in evaluating players performance (along with the eye test).

I like PER and plus/minus. I'm older, so still prefer the conforming stats - points, rebounds, assists, TO's, etc. On the wcil post game they did mention that D'Amico had the 1st or 2nd best plus/minus on the Salukis Saturday night.
