We should be about a 1 point favorite.
Craving a McBride Special!
Massey has us by 3.5 pts. SLU beat a good Butler (ranked 47) team by 12 the other night. SLU picked to win the A10 and they are big and athletic - much better talent this year. We need to rebound and shoot well and play good D.
If we play like the Buffalo game, we'll get whipped. If we play like the CSU game, we'll win.
SIU may be old and experienced, but they still need to learn how to beat good teams. A win here would be big in that department. Defend home court.
--Insert something witty here--
For SIU to officially turn the corner for men's basketball, wins over the regional rivals - SLU, Murray, SEMO, SIUe, Evansville, Illinois State, Indiana State, etc. have to be a must every year. Barry has not shown the ability to consistently do that as he's lost to SIUe and SEMO (at home) and struggled to beat Murray and SLU during his tenure. If this year's veteran team can't sweep the regional rivals, I don't know who will under BH.

When you are behind the likes of Furman, Wofford and Stony Brook, YOUR PROGRAM SUCKS! Oh wait a minute, we are a Major program, so we would not make this Top 25 anyway.

Furman's having a really good season. Their non-con wins could get them an at large bid if they finish strong in their conference.
The Valley really should figure out how to get Belmont and Murray State into the conference.
SIU really needs to beat the Billikens on Wednesday. They need this game to build their resume and the need the game for recruiting purposes. The little huckster needs to have this team ready to win on Wednesday.
Last year Siu had the better team and lost, this year slu has the better team, hopefully dawgs can find a way to beat a good team at home, Hate that siu hasn't been able to win on home court advantage against good teams for so many years
We used to get ranked in the REAL Top 25 and now we can't even crack the Mid-Major version? With Hinson's "best team?"

A very sad but very true reality.
Bracketology has SLU as an 11 seed in the NCAA tournament this week.
SLU has some good seniors on their squad-- Bess and Isabell. Hopefully AC and Sean can keep them in check. They also have highly touted frosh Carte'Are Gordon that will be an A-10 player of the year candidate next year and the following years. We need Fletcher to continue to shoot the ball well and we should be in good shape. I can see Thik having a good game, he has been trending upwards.

Stony Brook has been a much, much better team than SIU has been for the last 6 even 8 or so years. Though they have only made 1 trip to the NCAA tournament in that time - a 100% improvement over SIU - they have played for their conference championship on at least 4 or 5 other occasions. Steve Pikiell was their head coach for about 10-years, he had been Jim Calhoun's top assistant for a number of years. He knows how to win and is now the HC at Rutgers.
Their current HC is Jeff Boals - remember him? - he was Thad Matta's top assistant at The OSU for a long time. They continue to have success under Boals. He too knows how to win.
Go Dawgs!
SLU(t) does its part to help make SIU Basketball great again.
Go Dawgs!
