Short handed tired team missing at least one starter. We will be fine Plus McGill today make that two starters
Oakland 61
SIU 52
Final
62-51 Oakland Final
We got absolutely crushed on the boards, 44-20. Only played 7 men in the second half. We had to be past dead tired, probably a tribute we kept it under 10.
Of note:
Aaron Cook Jr. had seven steals, becoming the fourth player in SIU history with 7+ steals in a game ... Cook's seven steals were the most by a Saluki in a game since Bryan Mullins had eight steals at Creighton in 2006.
If you're gonna reply to me in the forums, please quote what I wrote that you're replying to so I have a clue...thanks! 😀

Pretty much sums up why we lost. Great effort. These kids play hard for Coach. Love it.
As I said before the first game of this "tourney", it's not about the W's, it's about the process and the young kids getting experience and PROGRESSING. Brown hit a couple 3's and that is a start. If he can consistently hit shots when this team is at full strength, it is going to really help. He played a LOT of minutes this weekend as I think the staff knows he needs experience at this level. Win or lose, I'm going to watch as many games as I can this season and I'm behind them 100%.
Go Dawgs !!!!!!!!!

Pretty clear they need Dembele in the mix badly. The big JUCO they added late is basically a practice body.

This sums my feelings exactly. I am so excited for the future
Attended all three games, although disappointed, as any fan would be, I could not have been any more proud of the team, the coaches, and last but not least the fan support. It was literally like NO other fans were present for any of the other teams, but the Saluki fans were there, they made noise, and they didn’t give up. With about 5 minutes left in the Oakland game, despite being dead tired, the Salukis turned up the defensive heat like I have not seen in years. This kids are playing tough, and they are playing hard. We are going to be all right.

That is great to hear. Thanks for sharing that!

Announcers kept mentioning how many Saluki fans were there in the UTSA game. Even during the lows of the Hinson era, we still were bringing decent sized crowds to road games like Evansville and Loyola. We even had an SIU chant going at Rupp Arena last year that echoed around the stadium. That's got to be a big boost to the team whether they win or lose.
We weren't able to watch the game...
But you guys that did, I see comments about playing hard, hustle etc., what's the deal with getting killed so bad on the boards? Was Oakland just that much bigger than us?
