For all of the people that think we should've got out bench more experience last night, keep in mind, we were down around 10 points to OSU with around 10 minutes to go.  The second half last night we were consistently up 10-13 points.  That is only a couple of buckets from being a 2 possession game.  I personally wanted to see more Cade and Foster myself, but I get it.  Also, it seemed as if Cade was specifically in to get matched up with a certain player in his brief stint in the second half.  I saw when Tennessee State made a sub, instantly the SIU assistant coaches got Bryan's attention to get Cade out.

#44 6'11" David Acosta. He scored 4 points, had 4 rebounds and played 8 minutes. Hornecker played 7 minutes had 4 points and 2 rebounds. College basketball is all about matchups. Mullins is very aware of that!

It would have been nice for the media to actually ask some probing questions rather than just ignore the fact that this team had just endured its 3rd straight offensively challenged game and only asked about how great the D was.  How about asking why Wonders didn't play?  How about asking what they can do DIFFERENT to avoid getting shut down again by a much better team in UNLV.

If Southern is going to shoot 25 three-pointers a game, I'd just as soon see Foster Wonders shoot 6-8 of them. 😀

I know he hasn't looked great in very limited minutes so far, but I do hope he can be part of improving the team's outside shooting, sooner than later. There are several guys in the rotation who are not very good outside shooters, so, in theory, Wonders should add something valuable to the mix.

So we are going to be reacting to the other team and only playing our bigs when they do? How about forcing their hand with our bigs? Maybe 2 at a time? We should have more fouls to give then most teams.

I’m not totally thrilled with last night but I will say that SIU out-coached Tennessee State last night.  Tennessee State was a team that liked to push the ball and score a lot of points and SIU made them play their game.

Still think you can’t play 2000’s Saluki Basketball and expect to be a good team in 2022-23 though.  You’ve got to score points.
