One of three games left in Carbondale
If they lose this one, they could seriously be looking at playing on Thursday at the tournament in STL.

It is so hard to predict. They could lose to Drake and beat Indiana State and Evansville on the road... I agree though, it is big from that standpoint. We are a game clear of Bradley and UNI with tie break over both, a 2-0 week could basically remove us from play in conversation, we will see.
Drake presents match up problems for us, but I will pick us at home in a tight one... 70-66 SIU
The schedule from here on out gets more difficult. We are going to have to find a way to beat teams ahead of us. We are fortunate to have that tie breaker with UNI but we are going to have to pick up at least two more wins.

We do not have the tie-breaker over Bradley. We split the series with them.
I'm curious what Drake will have left in the tank down the stretch. They're not a deep team, especially after the Norton injury, and they play a pretty uptempo brand of ball.
Regardless of how they close the season, they've been the best story in the MVC this season, and have regrouped without Norton better than could have been expected. Very impressive debut year for DeVries.
As an added wrinkle, it's very possible Southern could face Drake in the quarters in STL in a 3-6 or 4-5 matchup.

Is strength of schedule (or something similar) the second tie-breaker ?
Two-way Ties
1. Records in head-to-head competition are compared, with the higher seed going to the team that has won the most games against the other.
2. If head-to-head competition does not break the tie, the deadlock will be broken using the overall adjusted RPI, as published in The RPI Report on the morning after the final regular-season MVC game. The team with the better overall adjusted RPI will receive the higher seed.
Multiple Ties
1. If three or more teams are tied, regular-season competition among the tied schools shall be pooled into a “mini round-robin.” Teams shall be ranked according to their position in such a round- robin.
2. If head-to-head competition does not break the tie, the deadlock will be broken using the overall adjusted RPI, as published in The RPI Report on the morning after the final regular-season MVC game. The teams will be seeded in order of their overall adjusted RPI.
I thought I read somewhere that the Valley is going to use the NCAA-blessed NET rankings rather than the old RPI standard.

I thought I had heard that as well. The language I quoted above is from this year's MVC media guide.
We are using head to head and then NET... I am 100% sure. We split with Bradley and have a much higher NET. We win the tie break.

If we are tied with UNI, Missouri State, Bradley, Indiana State, Evansville, ILL ST or Valpo in the standings and have split with any of them our NET should be above all of them. The only 2 teams with NET that we will not pass if we are tied in the standings are Loyola and Drake.
Exciting stuff.
