Mid-Major Madness has started a preseason ranking count down. Looks like they are posting a new ranking and review each day.
So far:
25. Harvard
24. Vermont
23. Old Dominion
Another mid-major ranking has Loyola 3, SIU 5, Illinois St. 7...Buffalo #1. I can’t get the link to work when I paste it. Here it is anyway. https://collegebasketball.nbcsports.com/2018/09/27/nbcsports-coms-preseason-mid-major-power-rankings/

Looks like it does work. 😊
#10. Illinois State First MVC team in this ranking.
#15. Saint Louis
I suspect we will be high up in this ranking. If only we had Mullins here for this season over a guy who has never made the NCAA Tournament.
Since when is Nevada not a mid-major??? And Gonzaga? They most certainly are from mid-major conferences, and they're #1/#2 in my book. Whole Nevada team coming back including Caroline and the Martins.
Gonzaga is certainly not a mid-major anymore, neither is Butler, regardless of the conferences. Nevada, probably not either.
Apparently, the major/mid-major classification is flexible.
1. How versatile is this Nevada team?
Look no further than the measurables. The average mid-major team has either one, maybe two athletes on its roster that are visibly more athletic than the rest of their teammates. Of course, Nevada isn’t a normal mid-major program.
I can agree that Gonzaga is no longer a mid-major due to perennial NCAA success, but Nevada is definitely a mid-major (currently anyway.) Before last year, they hadn't been to the NCAA in 10 years. We've had more NCAA appearances and more Sweet 16s, although they could have success this year. They've toughened up their non-conf. schedule this year.
Besides that, (according to Wiki) in the 1946 NAIA Division 1 tournament, they lost to the Southern Illinois Normal Maroons!! 😀
Didn't take the new coach at Nevada 10 years to get his team in the top 10. Just sayin

He's a former NBA coach - his Dad was an NBA coach - knows what he's doing ... and recruited the Martins.
Be surprised if he's still at Nevada next year.

I would say you just mentioned the #1 and #2 ranked teams of this mid-major ranking. Both are mentioned in today's article regarding the preseason AP Top 25.
