How do we fix the problem:
1. Coach leaves you can leave.
2. Once NLI is signed….must stay 3 years then free to leave.
3. Scholarships binding…clauses put in place where it can be pulled. Player/Coach can agree to allow player to enter portal.
What would you add to the list?
We all know we aren’t going back to the old ways….so what are ideas to fix the portal?
The toothpaste is not going back into this tube. You will have attorneys suing on behalf of players who were promised money, e.g. the Miami kid getting $200k per year. Greed has ruined the sport. Fun while it lasted.
The advancement and diffusion of knowledge is the only guardian of true liberty.

The landscape has certainly changed however there were 2 Mid Majors in the FF 4 . It’s a new era and either you figure out how to navigate it or you become irrelevant. Easy absolutely not but I fully feel Mullins is going to try.
Every single MVC school is in the same boat as you so it’s not really an excuse to not compete for conference championships
So a couple of things….I was just specifically talking about transfer portal not NIL$.
All I was asking was about what ideas you would put in place. I do not think it’s going to change, but these are things I “wish” would happen.
It’s not an excuse…. A fan of any program, I would think, would like to see the top players stay for more than a year. I don’t like having to go year to year thinking “Who is going to leave this year.” I just wish there was some regulation on it…..maybe the government can step in and put some regulations on it, they seem to do that really well……..I kid, I kid.
College ball is turning into pro ball. Bummer!
The NIL is ridiculous. I have always said they should be paid but more so as a student worker, just a higher pay scale. It should not be difficult to cap that out. Players should get one portal transfer a career and that is it, if they are going to keep that atrocity. I am not sure how long I will be able to maintain interest in college ball if it stays like this.

Especially when we root for mediocrity.

That will be the next shoe to drop. Making athletes employees of the University. Then you bring in player multi-year contracts, benefits and collective bargaining.

Multi year contracts may be better than this garbage we’re seeing now.
Any contract in this scenario would be just as worthless as a coach contract.Multi year contracts may be better than this garbage we’re seeing now.

there will be no regs unless it works to further the advantage of the SEC and the Big Whatever.
anyway-
i think they need to have much tighter academic and eligibility regulation/checks if they are on the payroll. academic fraud is already high with the one and done kids.
get that in check immediately. somehow step up enforcement and more regular markers. monthly eligibility checks with regular audits.
the salaried players making more than $50k a yr can pay for the enforcement costs as a fee.
i would also be fine with them paying their own tuition if their bribes were in excess of a certain percentage of tuition. nba players have to pay for their own living expenses so let these guys do the same.
team salary caps.
repay your tuition as an outgoing transfer if you didn't graduate and are making a $100k salary.

i have no doubt he will try. i worry that he is too conservative in his adjustments, and that usually equates into too slow to evolve. The landscape has certainly changed however there were 2 Mid Majors in the FF 4 . i don't know bryan at all, but all know that he's a very, very smart person.
most of us wanted to hire him because we knew he would build and do it the right way. today's game isn't building. it's stealing from others. so where do we go from here?
