- Curious what everyone thinks about Austin w possibly being muscled out to sign a better player. Of course it was a good move, but after hearing coach cry about the transfer epidemic when good players left, I guess it's ok if he is not loyal to his players if they are not good enough. I do not know the facts just wondering if that is what happened.

Regardless, A.W. Would play very few minutes this year. He might just want to play more.
AW was obviously a nice kid and a good kid, but probably didn't have the skill set to contribute at this level. I wish him the best and thank him for his time in a Saluki uniform.
And he graduated in four years--congrats on that one
Now if things stay the same, we will be OK.
Hopefully no other shoes drop. It’s also worth noting that ISU, Bradley, and MSU are picking up some good recruits. Next year the Valley will be better. Overall, the conference is trending in the right direction. Some coaching deadwood got removed and their replacements are so far doing well with recruiting and rebuilding fan bases. This conference will be super competitive.

It's probably best for all parties involved that we move on from Austin and he from us. He wanted the chance to play D1 bball and he got the opportunity but did not figure in our future plans. He got a free education. And can now knock out a year of grad school while playing at a school where minutes will be more available for him.
I'm sure his parents are most greatful for four years (maybe five) of free education for their kid
Austin Weiher off the twitter feed-

I wonder why Austin Weiher has never shown up on the 2018 DI Basketball Transfer list? I guess he could always choose to take some graduate classes and use his last year of eligibility as a walk-on at SIU.
Maybe he's just done playing. Hinson said at one point during the season that Austin needed to decide if he really wanted to be a player, or something like that.
Some people just like to get a degree and find a job---it's a plan
Drake gets another transfer: 5-11 170 starting PG for Sienna. Averaged 9.7 ppg/4.9 rpg/3 assists. I think he may have a transfer redshirt year before playing
Weiher is finally listed on the 2018 D1 Transfer List.
Hefferman: Some day Logan players will fit at SIU
In less than a month, new SIU men's basketball coach Bryan Mullins has managed to open doors the previous staff couldn't seem to in seven years.
Barret Benson, a 6-foot-10 center from Northwestern, became the Salukis' first graduate transfer since the rule changed a few years ago. Guard Trent Brown, a senior at Pinnacle (Arizona) High School, helped his team win not one, but two Class 6A state championships. Winning state championships is not a guarantee a player will continue to win in college, but SIU struggled to land players that had been that successful recently. Harwin Francois, Mullins' first junior college recruit, set a great precedent with his size (6-5), shooting ability (he led his conference in Florida in 3-point percentage) and defensive acumen. Now it's time for the former Saluki to create a bridge to another former Saluki.
(Hefferman should have said, former Saluki and teammate.)
