UIC has slipped a bit after their hot start but like SIU, they've played much better on the road this season winners of 4 in a row.
The big difference for UIC has been Sasa Ciani battling an illness that has cost him games and minutes and he hasn't been the same player since.
UIC gave up a ton of points in the paint to Southern last time and just gave up a career high to Chase Walker the other night, so inside production would seem to be the name of the game against these guys, and hopefully Southern can supplement with at least half as many 3s as they hit at Evansville.
The Flames run several talented, attacking guards out there so the Dawgs likely will need a bounce-back game from Sharp to give Mayo and Steffe some rest and defensive support.
Hoping for at least a decent crowd despite another matinee, but for those not attending, the broadcasting side for this one also will be interesting with Chris Carr filling in for RW alongside Luke on radio and SIU grad Russ Eisenstein doing the ESPN Plus PBP.
Well, I have a good excuse for missing this one--I'm being inducted into the Cobden sports hall of fame tomorrow afternoon.

Congrats!
We really need this one if we want to inch our way towards the top half of the standings…@Bradley is looming midweek and another tough home game against Belmont next weekend. Tough stretch for the Dawgs. If they can manage 2-1, I like the odds of a top 6 finish.
@siudawgs That is awesome to hear about Carr. I didn’t know that. He seems to be really invested with the program these days. It was him who met with the team before the game up at UIC, wasn’t it?

At Missouri State. It was Tony Young, Sylvester Willis and some other Chicago area guys at UIC.
I know Carr has remained close with Rodney Watson over the years, so that helps.
Speaking of Rodney Watson, he’s being inducted into the USI hall of fame this weekend and, IMO (and in the opinion of Bruce Weber and others), he is overdue to be inducted in the Saluki Hall of Fame.
I know it’d be somewhat unusual with him not having been SIU’s head coach, but with all he has meant to Saluki basketball for decades, and all the success he’s been part of, he belongs in there.
1-7 start from the Salukis. 5-2 UIC early
Dawgs are off to a slow start. We need more ball movement.
Playing good defense. Keep that up…get to the rim more on offense. Looks like they are doing what Evansville did, except we can’t hit the broad side of a barn.
great block by KD - reminds me of LeBron when Cavs won the NBA Championship run the floor and block a breakaway from behind
Refs are letting them play, lot of contact on these attempts not being called
as long as they're consistent, I prefer this reffing style.. I hate refs that call baby fouls
