Hope Steffe didn't get injured there - swished his last 4 FTs and had 20 pts today

Back to .500 in Valley play!  Anyone here believe we'd be able to say that after the 0-5 start?

I always liked Steffe's attitude and hustle, but was unsure what he brought to the table. Now I can see why Coach Nagy has been playing him. He does have a quick first step and had his shot dropping today.

I didn't think they'd win 2 games the rest of the way after the Illinois State disaster

Saluki HOFer and NBA player Chris Carr did a nice job as analyst on the radio broadcast. Had some good analysis and didn't talk too much. Might have a future in broadcasting! 😊

I think he still coaches for Drury Univ. in Springfield, MO.

Sharp was conspicuous by his absence today.

I didn't even realize he didn't play.  Nagy hasn't put him in since the technical on Wednesday

Nagy said Mayo is the team's most valuable player.

Also wasn't happy with the ending because of margin of victory being used for NET.  I like it, need to blow these teams out when you have the chance.  It was one of the biggest problems in Domask/Jones Senior seasons playing tight games with Alcorn State, etc.

I think Sharp's silly tech. foul didn't make Nagy happy.

Couldn't follow the game closely because of a prior commitment, but just judging by the statistics, it's a good, solid victory on many levels. Dibba had a quiet day, so others really stepped up. Steffe seems to get better and better every game and is proving why he was a highly coveted recruit. Kennard had a terrific all-around game. Mayo did a little bit of everything, as usual, and seems to have emerged as a leader. Hensley had a double-double (he's fully debunked the argument that he "isn't a Division I player"). Another productive day from the backup bigs with nine rebounds total. And looks like a nice contribution from Sykes, too. The turnover total is a bit high, but that's the only quibble I can come up with. If you'd asked me when we were 0-5 in the MVC if we'd ever reach .500 in league play, I'd have asked you what you'd been smoking (and then requested some of it).

One indicator that Southern is playing harder and with more physicality is other teams are starting to have bad shooting nights against the Salukis with some regularity. UIC was woeful much of the day today.

Until mid-January, almost everyone was feeling really comfortable and getting in an offensive groove. Some of that is probably general stat regression, but no doubt teams now know they’re in for a battle.

Another nice win! Don’t look now, but our crowds are slowly getting bigger and louder as this streak keeps going. If this is a night game and the students show up, this would’ve been a very nice crowd! This team can beat anyone if we keep shooting like we have the last two games!
