A great performance. All we need is a win over the poorly coached Missouri State Bears and we are back, baby.
Curious how many people attended this game. Which is hard to find out because all they count are tickets sold, I guess by design.
Looked pretty empty today, even the Dawg Pound which has been full seemed light. Guessing people stayed home to watch football, was barely paying attention myself.
Yeah I watched the first part of first half, but once Cincinnati made it a game, it was all over.
I still worry the same old Salukis will show up Wednesday, but folks seem to have some new energy today so that’s good.
I figured it out. I unexpectedly didn't make the game today nor was I able to follow it on the radio. I AM THE JINX.
Now THAT'S the team we've been looking for all year. It may have had something to do with the level of competition, but still....we'll take it! 😉
Was at game and could hear coach yelling for players to push the ball for some transition points and they did much better with that, also I believe coaches made some changes for a more balanced attack, hopefully this make siu harder to gaurd rest of year, now I do realize valpo is not that good, Wed will be interesting, hopefully not another letdown
NIce win. Seems like some serious adjustments to the offense were made. Let's see this trajectory continue. Onwards and upwards!
Was at a wake today and missed some sports. Great win today. Good to see the big men stepped up! Great defense again.

The biggest change was we were playing Valpo. The difference between the type of defense Valpo plays and what we saw from the likes of Loyola was night and day difference. The fact is the last six games we have played some of the top teams in conference who get after it defensively (Bradley, UNI, Loyola, Drake) and the Loyola game was one of the most physically played games I can remember in a long time. Hopefully, that will pay some dividends going forward. On to Mo State and figuring out how to stop Prim and Mosley.

With Kithier out, Valpo was playing one player over 6'6 (6'9 Ben Krikke). So SIU just pounded the ball inside to Filewich and Muila most of the first half and it worked. Credit to the coaching staff there.
I really want to see them have some success in the next 3 games (vs Mo St, @ ISU Red, @ UNI) because they might take another step back and lose all 3, especially if they lose the first 2.
You know the best thing about this game? Domask only scored 8 points...granted he dropped 8 dimes too, but he didn't have to carry the scoring load and only had to play 28 minutes! We had two bigs score double digits in JD and Kyler (side note, LOVED the way JD went to the basket when he got the ball, went up strong and threw it down...no hesitation). I'm hopeful the confidence both of those guys gained with that performance carries over b/c we need them both playing well if we are going to go on a run. Obviously don't expect that scoring output every time, but the defense and rebounding was great. Lance looked like the Lance of old again and played under control all game. That was great to see and hopefully he can maintain as well. I don't expect 5 of 6 from deep all the time, but when he's hitting at a decent clip from outside, it opens up the rest of his game.
I know we played Valpo and they were down a couple folks (we've been down players all year so it is what it is), but that was 35 minutes of really good basketball.
I was at the game and have a few thoughts.
Lance looks closer to full health than he has in quite some time. I think that is a huge key for the Salukis.
We pushed the ball at times not allowing Valpo to get set on defense. I hope we continue to do this when appropriate.
Though pretty light, I thought the crowd wasn't that bad given covid and the nfl conference championship games. Small crowd was lively for it's size.
Defense was again good against an inferior Vapo team.
Muila and Kyler looked really good against the vulnerable post of Valpo. I hope they continue to be more aggressive against better post players. They may both be maturing, I think Muila certainly is.
Domaks had a complete game and is quite the distributor this year. I think he is near the top of the valley in assists, and the fact that is coming from the forward position is even more impressive.
I like the fact that Domask and Jones played more limited minutes. I really like the 10 man rotation, and hope we can have some legs late in the season. That has been an issue the last couple of years.

Thank you for your sacrifice.
