Sometimes you run into a buzzsaw too. Valpo shot 53%, 64% from three (7 - 11), and 88% FTs. Valpo isn't awful and they played a near perfect 2nd half. They also have a few seriously talented players. They whipped Belmont by 15 and also beat UNI.
We don't have enough depth to give our best players enough rest. Davis 40 min, Dibba 37, Mayo 35. Those guys looked tired 2nd half.
Valpo just ran you over without their best player and with a Freshman. Won't get better next year. The only team worse than SIU at this point is the team leaving the conference. 12-20 is unacceptable, I don't care if it's year 1.
we are the team that everyone wants to play in st. louis.
Let's hope we can put two halves together against the Redturds!
SIU is 6-7 at home this year, not a good way to build a fanbase. Been 17 uncompetitive years in a row, eventually fans are gonna find better things to do. 2000's nostalgia in Southern Illinois won't last forever.

What are you talking about? Their best player is Wright and he played 36 minutes. The next best player is Schweiger and he played 35. Wright is the freshman of the year in the MVC if not the player of the year. Good news is he'll be playing for a Big 10 team next year.
McNair didn't play much but he absolutely killed us second half.. 14 points.
Some of that was because we didn't play great defense. but some of it was that they were just very hot shooting. Like Murray State, they made just about every free throw they took.
I repeat.. Nagy's first year and lost one of his best players in game 3 - the point guard - the general of the team.
Crazy expectations for year one.
Just an unfortunate loss. Hot start, but we just don’t have the guns. Depth is a major issue.
I’m not running for the hills when it comes to this program’s future.
We’ll see what we have next year. Hope the portal treats us well. It will have to.
Bow Em
I just knew it had to be a bad omen this afternoon when I was searching for something on YouTube and came across a University of South Alabama student TV station retrospective interview with an 85-year-old Joe Gottfried.

I’ll give you this….you’re all in. Asking to be better than 12-16 and not losing to a Valpo team at home whose away record is 2-9…..don’t think those expectations are too high….but maybe some things are inscrutable.
Hensley said something in the post game that “ Coach doesn’t put up with moping….you do that you don’t play”….he might want to take that mirror out of his pocket and look at it. His demeanor could be construed as such sometimes.
This team won't win another game rest of the season. All the goodwill built up in January is gone. This program is dead
Get a grip. It’s year 1.
It’s year 1 for Drake.
1st D1 year for coach McCollum.
Entire roster is new except for 5th yr senior Ferguson
They beat Vandy & KState.
They’re in 1st place.
That’s what I expect at SIU

12-20 is unacceptable. I don't care if they lost Elliott and are in year 1. Once you fall in the MVC, it's hard to get back up in the world of NIL. Donors are probably more apprehensive about giving money, people are going to start not showing up to games, students won't pack the Dawg Pound, etc.
I have seen this movie before.
really hard to watch
I left after Sharp dribbled into traffic with about 2-3 minutes left and turned it over for the umpteenth time. I knew that was the end. Got in my car just in time to hear a perplexed Rodney Watson wondering just WTF Nagy was doing in the final minutes not applying any pressure.
These last few games have been carbon copies of each other. I've never seen a team that can blow a 13-point lead as quickly and thoroughly as this one. There's nobody left that we can beat. Season over and program probably never recovering. I know it's only Year 1 and I've defended this coach as much as anybody. But if Rodney's lost faith in him, so have I.
