Wow that was disheartening... It’s disappointing that after Verplanken missed the layup he just stood there and didn’t try to recover the ball and get it up again.

Not the first time this year there's been reason to question the effort of the team

I'm going to be polite here and just say - we have issues.

If you would’ve told me after the Butler game that I’d watch our team lose at home to Valpo and have no emotion...

I have emotion, but not the kind I was expecting after Butler.  Still three games left and the tourney. I will be rooting just as hard for them the rest of the way as I did at Butler.

In hindsight the Butler win is pretty average at best. Beat a 7-12 team without 2 of their best 3 players. This season has been pretty disappointing. Still all-in with Mullins however if next season is a repeat of this one there will be good reason for concern

If Mullins comes out on the post-game and the first thing he says is "Its on me.  I didnt have them ready"  I'm gonna throw up.

A turn-around fade-away from Harvey might've been effective there.  But he wasn't even on the court.  I don't get it.  He's the only guy on the team other than Jones capable of creating his own shot.

Even with a healthy team and with the new Freshmen, this team is still a bottom half of the Valley team next year when Seniors are returning all over.  It's better to just look to 2022 at this point and hope that you don't completely kill your recruiting and momentum.

I would like to know how Valpo has had at least 2, perhaps 3-4 wide open 3's.  I don't mean where the defender is even 2' away.  I'm talking wide open.

That wide open corner 3 they just missed was perplexing.  I think the most discouraging part of this season is SIU looks completely lost on defense a lot.  Domask isn't a bad defender by any stretch but there's no way losing him should impact the team's defense that much.

For me the most disappointing this is the sharp regression in Year 2.  If you would have told me at the beginning of the season that the Salukis would finish in the bottom half of the standings, I would have been upset but as long as I had seen PROGRESS, I would have been okay with it.  It's going to be a long long wait for 2022-3.  I'm not getting any younger.  LOL

It was an odd 5 on the floor to close the game. Not many good options without Domask but having both Filewich and Harvey on the bench when you need a bucket and maybe an offensive rebound didn’t feel great.

The last 3-4 offensive possessions were not winning basketball.

Lousy loss in what has turned into a lousy season.

I will say, the Domask excuse would be valid for this one because I think SIU wins this one with Domask.  Also, I liked the effort today compared to past games where the Salukis didn't show up.

But I don't think Domask and Muila being out are an excuse for this team being a 9th or 10th place team in the Valley.  If those guys are that big of a difference, then you have a bunch of problems with a core you thought you had.  Remember, Valpo lost Javon Freeman-Liberty and have a young team too and they're likely a bye team now.  They're not using excuses.

Just hoping a silver lining in this is the coaches can see how much more work is needed on the roster. Some of the current guards/wings who are playing heavy minutes wouldn’t be on an MVC contender. Too many role players who aren’t dynamic enough athletes.

Don't forget about JD Muila; with him and Domask we're not a Thursday team.
