Being out here on the East Coast, I only know what I read on the Athletics webpage and this site, but I agree that if optimism and Saluki Pride are any indication, Bryan Mullins is a great success thus far.
I love the hire. I think Mullins is going to do a fantastic job and that SIU's challenge in the coming few years is going to be trying to keep Mullins around (due to success, which is a wonderful problem given the past decade). However, the proof will come out in wins and losses. We shall see over the next three years how this pans out.

Even if it doesn’t work out, I’m more invested in the program than ever. Long way to go but right now it’s pretty apparent Mullins and his staff are going to work harder than anyone to get their guys.

C-low could fill spots on a bench,
BBQ could have a full roster.
Mullins- Did not have mass defections in the program at signing, possibly a good sign, he signed good looking talent on paper. lets see what produces.
I will give him 10 games and I will pass judgement on Mullins as a coach.
I would like to see SIU's Diet, Strength and Conditioning program return to the level it was at when Kill was coaching football and Weber was coaching basketball. That one piece of the puzzle has gone down since Kill took the director of the weight room with him. Stronger athletes, better conditioning, fewer injuries, and faster recovery when there are injuries. Both Football and Basketball fell off after 2007....

I don't remember any spring with this much recruiting activity. The quality of recruits that have visited also seems to be better than years past. Bryan has only been here a couple of months. Can't give a grade yet, but it sure looks good so far.

I love the recruiting effort too, but BBQ had some very good recruits in this sad epoch of SIU basketball - just not enough of them. Anthony Beane, Sean Obrien, Jordan Caroline, Armon Fletcher, Darius Beane, and Kavion Pippen come to mind. He also had quite a few non-D1 recruits and couldn't coach worth a feces!

While I will respect your opinion and respect all of these players. Brown and Benson don’t even answer the phone if BBQ called. Reeves and Harvey are both getting some P5 interest. Those guys were all good. Recruiting now is at an entirely different level

He does get overbearing. However you can understand him. His replacement last year(for a couple of games) talked like he had a mouth full of mush. You might as well not had an announcer
