A+++
I honestly feel he has done more in 30-40 days, than BBQ did in 7 years. Pride has returned and it is a wonderful thing. Thank you Coach!
I love the recruiting effort too, but BBQ had some very good recruits in this sad epoch of SIU basketball - just not enough of them. Anthony Beane, Sean Obrien, Jordan Caroline, Armon Fletcher, Darius Beane, and Kavion Pippen come to mind. He also had quite a few non-D1 recruits and couldn't coach worth a feces!
While I will respect your opinion and respect all of these players. Brown and Benson don’t even answer the phone if BBQ called. Reeves and Harvey are both getting some P5 interest. Those guys were all good. Recruiting now is at an entirely different level
I'm not defending BBQ or saying he was a great recruiter - think it's pretty obvious he was a lazy recruiter and a crappy coach and a first class bag of bs, but he (more likely his assistants) grabbed a few over 7 years. (Of course he chased away Caroline, Dantiel Daniels, Pendleton, Bola, Lavender, etc.)
If we had all these guys back next year, we'd be ranked pre-season and be the over-whelming favorites to win the MVC. These guys were all All-Conference. I imagine Mullins would have recruited every one of them, and he's very happy that All-Stater Lance Jones from Evanston (another BBQ recruit) is not de-committing - Jones was one of the first calls he made after becoming HC.
I'd love to see Benson be great next year. If he's as good as Pippen was this year, I'll be very happy. If Trent Brown turns out as good as Lance Jones (who was very impressive in the state tournament, can score and defend and will leave you spinning after he blows by you like the Roadrunner), that would be awesome. We'd have the best guard tandem in the MVC in a couple of years.
BTW, Antonio Reeves and Lance Jones are cousins.
Since the original question was "how has he done so far", not 10 games in, I will give Bryan a 4.0, next question please.
The advancement and diffusion of knowledge is the only guardian of true liberty.

Bryan was a terrific defensive player and that's hard work. It's obvious already that he's a harder worker than BBQ and not a bullshhiitter. I fully expect us to be much better coached and much better period.
Who of you is going to mess the infernal weave. You know - pass the ball around beyond the arc and then with 4 seconds left take a crappy shot. Damn BBQ was a helluva offensive mind!
Seriously friends, PLEASE STOP bringing up Hinson in EVERY THREAD. I feel more than confident that Mullins will do a great job, regardless of the relativity to the prior head coach. Keep it classy Salukis !!!!!
i'm excited about the work he has done so far. Wish we could have held on to Fall, but we never got to see him anyway, and will most likely never know what we missed. Lots of newcomers this coming season, but anxious and excited to see how it goes.
An excellent job!
With each passing day since the termination of the 2nd guy who shall not be named I have been getting more and more excited about the future of Saluki basketball. And with today's news I need to go find my sunglasses.
Go Dawgs!
The energy meter of this staff is obviously no longer hovering near 0!!! (as it was with the staff of He-Who-Shall-Not-Be-Named 😀) Great to see!
Anyone know if we are after any bigs? We need some front line guys.
He's not calling enough timeouts.
Craving a McBride Special!
I was so embarrassed for our program when the "not to be named" coach came up w/ those little quips like "those little stinkers worked their tails off" … you'd think that he was coaching grade school kids. That made me cringe ...
This current group shows class from A to Z already. I am 100% behind coach Mullins & his staff.

Has Fardawa Aimaq visited SIU yet?
Yes. Several days ago.
Yes. Several days ago.
Does anyone have any idea how the visit went?
