Perfect, they will keep offering 2 dollar tickets, meanwhile I paid 500 for my season ticket. They are doing an awesome job of making me rethink my season tickets. I will just buy game by game since there are 0 perks of being a season ticket holder and it actually costs more than just buying every game individually.Hoping the fact it’s on ESPN2 gets a bunch of students to the game. Last Sunday’s 1:00 tip was probably the worst showing of the year. Luckily it might have been the best showing from the general fans. I don’t blame the Dawg Pound though, they’ve done an amazing job this year.
Hope SIU goes all out trying to get this crowd as big as possible
Tim Leonard told me directly they want this as a sell out and will be promoting it.
I’ll admit this is a frustration point for me too. The parking pass is nice, but I could’ve sat in the lower section in the UIC game for cheaper than my season ticket is in 209. It’s cheaper to do game by game, and just purchase every game.

This is the risk the ticket office runs with having so many promotions throughout the year. Trying to balance game attendance and drive a walk-up crowd while also maintaining season ticket holders.
Like it or not, right now this drives butts in the seats b/c of a lack of recent on court success. So what are their options right now? I'm sure you guys would complain about a lack of attendance if they weren't running promotions to get people out to the games. Which way do you want it? Maybe they can throw some additional perks at season ticket holders (free popcorn/soda night, maybe some drink discounts, etc.), but the end goal is to get fans off the couch and in the door and they've done a damn good job so far. Look at some of the other schools around the league and their lack of attendance, makes for a pretty poor atmosphere if you ask me.
I think if the on court performance continues on this trajectory and the engaged fan base continues to grow these promotions will not be as prevalent/necessary (maybe only for big games where they want a sellout).
The promotions are mainly bleacher seating and cheap seats too that probably wouldn’t sell without the deals. It’s not like they’re offering extreme discounts for the lower-level chair seating.
They’re trying to get fans back into a routine of getting back to the Arena after 15 years of not making any postseason tournaments.

For the record, I know. And I agree. Personally my experience is better when the seats are filled. And it’s absolutely where I want this program to be. Not saying they shouldn’t do things to fill it. As someone stated, perks would be nice. Discounted team store apparel and concessions would be nice. Discounted extra single tickets (maybe even a couple free for select games). I don’t know exactly what, but something for being the committed fan would be nice. Overall I’m a very happy fan, but seeing the better deals out there can make me cringe sometimes.
Rockin Dawg and I have lower bowl center court chair seat season tickets for basketball and 50 yard line season ticket chair seats for football and I absolutely love the fact that the SIU admin is trying to fill the arena with promotions. They aren't selling any discount tickets next to us in section 109. We do get the perks of the hospitality suite and parking pass. It costs us about $1k a piece total, including SASF donation. Small price to pay and a much better experience with bigger crowds. Plus the money goes to SIU and god knows the athletic department needs the money! The promotions are mainly bleacher seating and cheap seats too that probably wouldn’t sell without the deals. Totally agree I also have season tickets and have had them for a long time. I also give a monetary donation above what is required but I want to win. I love the fact that our new AD is trying to build a fan base and get people in the building. We as fans and donors have to understand for the athletic department to succeed it has to have money and that takes donations and season ticket holders. Consider it a donation and part of the rebuilding process. Also I don't want to sit in the cheap seats 😎 Go Dawgs

Concur 100%. I am also a ticket season holder, and SASF but sadly have not been able to attend a game in three years. Many different factors, but being two states away, and varying work schedules are two examples. I echo others thoughts that say it is also a donation to athletics, and that is how I have felt the last three years. Whatever it takes to get folks to the Banterra to fill I'm on board with. As the product on the floor improves, the price may go up, but absolutely fine with that because I want to watch a winner. True Saluki fans have been waiting too long!
GO DAWGS!!!

First thing to do is make ticket prices more reasonable. $35 to $50 for lower bowl? This is not Chicago. Lower the prices.
Secondly, quit adding a charge of $4 to tickets. Be honest about the ticket price. Don't be Ticketmaster type aholes.
Thirdly, get ticket software that works worth a shit. It's junk.
For promotions, instead of pricing crap seats more reasonably, have more things like giveaways for the first 1000, the Jesse White tumblers, etc.
I get what you are saying, but it's flat $4 no matter how many tickets you buy. They are upfront about it and they don't bang you for it on every ticket. It goes to facility upkeep and debt for us. It goes straight in to the pocket of Ticketmaster.Secondly, quit adding a charge of $4 to tickets. Be honest about the ticket price. Don't be Ticketmaster type aholes.
Sure season ticket holders do get cheated on promos, but you are investing in the program where it is sorely needed. If we want to continue to rise then we need the investment. Would you rather win and be able to fund a program or save $6 on a ticket?
Barkeep pays $75 for mid-court seats at Bradley vs. our $50. Prices at ISU are similar to ours. We aren't that far out of the norm. Mid-court at UNI is $45.25. SEMO checks in at $20. You get what you pay for. 😀

@saluki-69 Earlier in the week, I picked up 2 $5.00 tickets for the Drake game. They were having a “flash sale”. Looks like they are pushing for a big crowd.

Sounds like all the stops will be pulled out to pack the joint against Bradley.
It looks like they are almost sold out. There are a few singles in the main bowl, and the upper level tickets are getting thin. It's not going to be an easy place to play on Saturday! We usually are ready to play in this big games. I hope Drake doesn't play as good as they did down in Possum Hollow. They looked top 25 down there.@saluki-69 Earlier in the week, I picked up 2 $5.00 tickets for the Drake game. They were having a “flash sale”. Looks like they are pushing for a big crowd.
We have to go 5-0 or 4-1 to have a chance to win the league. 3-2 will not get it for us as we will most likely lose the tiebreakers against Bradley and Drake. This means we have to beat either Drake or Bradley or possibly both. If we beat Drake we will hold the tiebreaker against them. If we beat Bradley we will still not hold the tiebreaker against them as we will be 1-1 against them and have a lower NET rating. If we beat one of them and go 4-1 we will need each of them to lose one additional game. They play each other the last game of the season so that will take care of an additional loss for one of them. we control our own destiny, but have to finish very strong.
