I don’t believe Newton is a lock for the starting lineup. Certainly a possibility, but not a lock.

Just my opinion, nothing more........

2 absolute lock starters in Jones and Domask

Johnson also a very likely starter

From there it's a crapshoot.  Can Rupert play the 4?  If so, then I see him possibly starting. If not, then he and Muila will be the top 2 options to start (AT THE BEGINNING OF THE SEASON).

Newton will also possibly start, but I'm no overly confident in that right now.

Despite the lineup being small, if I was forced to guess at this time of the year, without any additional information, I would pick

Jones, Johnson, Newton, Domask and Muila to start the season.

I personally am very high on Rupert.  And then of course there are the wildcards in Wonders and Ebube who did not play last year as freshmen.

As most have said, this is an incredibly DEEP team and even without injuries, the starting lineup could be different throughout the year based on many factors, including opposing team.

A few of you have said these 5 to start the season.

Jones, Johnson, Newton, Domask and Muila to start the season.

It's also been mentioned that's an incredibly short squad on the court.  There's some strength in there, but I believe SIU would suffer on the boards with that lineup.  A 4 out/1 down lineup would work on some occasions, but Mullins will probably be juggling his rotation for different matchups.  He has the depth, but will he get enough scoring out of this group will be a question.  They lacked it last season.  This team looks to be have more balanced scoring options.

The 4 out 1 in is going to be the norm now and in the future so defensive rebounding will take priority over offensive rebounding and an emphasis on creating turnovers will be important to success in my opinion

Having a deep bench gives us an opportunity to play 40 minutes of solid defense. I’m okay with ugly ball. It worked for Weber.

Madness 144 Preview has the Salukis in at #87 with an old logo. I guessed #88, so pretty close. Feel like we should be in the 70's, but close enough and hopefully Dawgs will "keep their chip."

March on triumphantly!

A top-100 final ranking would represent a significant step forward for the program and probably place SIU in the top three or so in the conference and at least in the hunt for postseason consideration. That's actually a pretty favorable/optimistic ranking for a program that was .500 in league play last year. Here's hoping ...
