Since we have people who know him, can somebody please ask Tyler what's the deal between them and SIU. Do we not recruit them, or do they not want to go to SIU?
I'm not sayin' -- I'm just sayin'!
Mullins & the staff have attended games. I think the “issue” is the good players aren’t ending up there to go to an SIU, they’re going to be on a pipeline to Missouri as long as Kyle is there and the guys not ending up at a power program might not be guys Mullins wants in this program.
Personally, I think SIU needs to take a few risks on guys or last year might have been their absolute ceiling. Bruce Weber took a risk on Rolan Roberts, a guy that we would never be after in 2023.
I could not disagree more. Chris Lowery took a few risks, we all know how that ended. There is more to a program than just winning games with thugs. You need to have the support of the community or you don’t have a program. Re- Roland Roberts, Matt Painter heard about him, dug deeply in his due diligence, finding that the aggrieved female was Roland’s girlfriend and recommended him to Weber. Bruce said ok, but it you cross the center line you are out of here. I have met Roland’s parents, they are are very respectable people, his mom worked at the Pentagon. What makes you think that we will not continue to recruit at a high level? Let’s let Murray State be the thug school in the Valley, they are off to a great start. This so called problem with recruiting from JALC is not just a current phenomenon it is a historical one as we never have recruited from there and I don't believe recruiting from jr college is going to be a huge benefit in the day of NIL and the portal

Of their returning high school recruits next year (if Domask/Jones/Brown are not back), only 15.1 points per game and 46.1 total minutes per game return. And the transfer recruits haven't worked out much better. I don't really call that recruiting at a high level. I have hope for Kennard Davis and think he's a good get but I can't trust any of the guys I've seen.
Could that possibly be a function of the starters playing more than the bench? Your pessimism is way over the top. You keep cheering for the thugs, I’ll keep cheering for the Salukis.

I watched the game on espnu. Congratulations to Tyler and the Vols.John A Logan just won the NJCAA National Championship. It was broadcast live on ESPNU.

Drake's 6th leading regular in points per game (Calhoun) would have been 3rd on SIU in points per game and he started 1 game all year.
And????

Will Keller
Really baffles me that Kyle and Bryan were teammates at SIU and we didn’t snag a single player from Logan while Kyle was there and Bryan at SIU (I’m not counting Will Keller, sorry. Talking about starters). Plenty were good enough to play at SIU obviously.

I would contend the culture has been built, quite nicely, over the past four years. I’m hoping the part after building the culture includes finding more guys who can put the ball in the basket and revamping the offense, or it’s going to be more great culture but no postseason.
As for not even a trickle of kids from Logan to SIU over the years, it’s been a little weird. Not expecting a pipeline but one recruit every five years would be nice, especially with Logan’s last two coaches being former players.
A few things, John A best players are going P5, we have no shot.
John A has lots that go low major too.
To me, selling the one or two kids every few years that fit SIU on staying in southern Illinois instead of trying a new location is going to be a tough sell. Would I rather stay in southern Illinois or head to a new location.

and I can understand that. But why don’t we try? That’s what frustrates me. we won’t even try to go after their best players.
Logan last lost a game Nov. 11. Went back and looked, they lost on Wednesday, Nov. 9 and then on Friday and never again.
Vols went 4 and a half months without losing a basketball game. That is unreal to not slip up once.
