Moccia press conference at 11 am. I believe the NMSU chancellor is also speaking.

Looks like Moccia’s job is safe.

Supporter of the Fab 4: Scottie Ebube, Foster Wonders, AJ Ferguson & Cade Hornecker.

They’re the ones that can get us where we haven’t been in 15 years.

Uh oh!!! Mario's in trouble. He got the "vote of confidence" from the Chancellor.

Sounds like athletics isn't the only issue at New Mexico State:

Also, Mario had to fire the baseball coach after an 0-7 start. They are 0-10 now after losing a series to Pacific over the weekend.

Feels like the seat has to be getting pretty hot for Moccia at this point.

Man, this thing isn't just going sideways in a hurry...it's on the express elevator to Hell.

Why hasn't the NCAA said anything or started an investigation? This has got SMU Death Penalty written all over it.

Moccia is fried.  It's only a matter of time before the NMSU gives Moccia his walking papers.  There is a new Chancellor in town and I'm sure the house-cleaning will start soon and likely be a very thorough and deep cleaning at that; many other heads will roll too.

As for the NCAA death penalty...

  • Yes, NMSU is on the block because the NCAA never gave the death penalty to UNC after its wide-spread academic cheating scandal that they most assuredly deserved; UNC made a mockery of academic integrity and got away with it.  The NCAA could take this ugly & horrible culture at NMSU to task and give NMSU athletics the death penalty to show they mean business.
  • No, NMSU will not be given the death penalty, as ugly & horrible as everything has happened at NMSU the NCAA did not give the death penalty to UNC for making a complete mockery of academic standards & integrity.  Even the horrible death of student will not make the NCAA take such drastic action.

The NCAA is a joke.  Look no further than UNC and NIL.
JMFHO, FWIW.

It's a lack of institutional control and guess who sits on top of the trash heap.  It's probably time to think about a new career.

Mario probably wishes he was back at The SIU. He is an  alum ... I think he played blue balls or maybe it was baseball for the Aggies. That may save his ass.

NCAA will investigate if any of this broke any NCAA rules.  The university took decisive action when they shut down the basketball program during the season so that will likely satisfy any penalties the NCAA would hand out, if they even care.

NMSU doesn't make the NCAA any money like UNC does, so the rules do apply to NMSU.
