He just got a 5 year extension in early April. He makes substantial more at NMSU than he did at SIU. SIU are the ones that wanted Mario to leave so it wasn’t an option to stay. With the recent events at NMSU he sure has been put in a bad spotlight but IF he is forced out he will be financially fine.

That's not the impression I had at the time and I knew folks in the AD department including Mario. You may have known some donors who wanted him out, but I am pretty sure he wasn't forced out.
