UNI was loudly yapping about not being seeded while SDSU was seeded. Time to put up or shut up for the purple kitties. I'm sure SDSU appreciates the bulletin board material!
Having watched Nicholas State and Southeast Louisiana play as well as followed FCS football in general I still believe SIU was one of the top 24 teams in the country. Kennesaw State winning over Wofford does not change that opinion. In fact, take a closer look at Wofford and who did they beat that was any good either?! I agree completely that SIU's early loses determined their fate, but it is fair to be miffed a bit given playing the best team in the country solidly and closely in combination with the conference we are in and the win streak we were on. The committee identifying that we didn't beat either of the teams we tied with or the four that are in the playoffs is hogwash as neither did Kennesaw State nor Wofford for that matter. Oh sorry they beat Furman 24-7 who was waxed by Austin Peay 42-6. Furman was 7-4 with you guessed it not many impressive wins either go figure.
I don't really disagree. As you (I think) pointed out in another post, there were no doubt some political reasons (namely, not wanting to award the MVC five bids) for SIU not getting the bid, but I also think that the selection of KSU was not as patently absurd as it's being made out to be, and I think going 0-4 against playoff teams was a valid reason for not picking us, however much tougher our schedule was.
Sadly, in the end it really doesn't matter what any of us thinks: we didn't get a bid, and our season is over. 🙁

True That. Watching the selection committee over the years has taught me that they do whatever they can to reduce the MVCF profile. Examples being how they seed the teams and bracket them as well. Typically, we get all of our teams on one side of the bracket causing us to knock ourselves out as we move along in the tournament. I loved it when we had two teams in the finals a couple of years ago and this year maybe that could happen again we will have to see. Plus, it is always fun to bitch a bit and it may be louder this year as it has been so long since we actually had a shot at the playoffs.
At this point it's water under the bridge. I just hope Nick & Co. can build on this season and leave no doubt about a playoff run next year. GO DAWGS!!

While I don't disagree with you it is important to note that this is not a tournament of the top 24 teams in the country. The NCAA basketball tournament is not a tournament of the top 68 teams, either.
Automatic bids of lower end conferences take up some space. The Ivy league doesn't participate either. They had a couple of teams that could have dropped us farther down the bubble.
Usually, being the 24th best team in the country will not get you an at-large bid in a 24-team tournament.

Honestly, the only thing I'm worried about is some other school recognizing what a gem Petrino is and poaching him. That guy is a miracle worker.

uni at sdsu - sdsu
nichols at ndsu - ndsu
isu red at central ark - central ark
Craving a McBride Special!
I'll go with a MVCF sweep with SDSU, NDSU, and Illinois State all winning. Don't think UNI has the offense to beat SDSU. NDSU will cruise and if ISU-Red keep their running game going I think they can beat Central Arkansas.
It took very little effort for SDSU to score on UNI on the first position. 7-0 Bunnies in the 1st.
SDSU has a very, very nice stadium.

10-0 now and UNI just threw an interception. End of 1
They do have a very nice stadium but the one side of the stadium might have less than 1000 people in it.
ISUred is up 14-0 in the 2nd.
UNI AND SDSU 10-10 in the 3rd.
14-7 isu in 2nd.
UNI wins 13-10.
ISU up 21-7 midway in the 3rd.

SDSU has to be very disappointed with that attendance. Good weather, great facility, playoffs and no one shows up.
