James Robinson has rushed for a little over 500 yards his last 2 games.
Three from valley move on to final eight. Brackets not set up very favorably for our conference as uni knocks out SDSU and isu-red get ndsu in the quarters while uni has to go through James Madison. So likely down to only one representative in the semis. Meanwhile bracket for big sky set up nicely as they could have four through to quarters if Sacramento state beats peay tonight. I guess uni didn’t have to score points to beat SDSU like I had thought they would. Pretty tough D.
UNI eliminated by James Madison, 17-0.
James Madison has an excellent D. UNI had 0 yards rushing and only 7 first downs. UNI had a good D themselves to hold JMU to 17. JMU's only loss (20 - 13) was game 1 at W. Virgina - they were tied in the 4th quarter and held W. Virginia to 34 yards rushing!
Weber St, co-Big Sky champ who got whipped at Montana earlier, beats the Griz when it counts - unfortunately has to play at James Madison. Two years ago they played there and should have won - lost a very close game. I don't think this one will be as close.
I expect NDSU to pound the Redturds. Still trying to figure out how the Redturds got such an easy path to get this far in the playoffs. Remember they got whipped 21 - 3 by a bad Youngstown team the last game of the season.
Looks to me like NDSU and JMU are heads and tails above everybody else.
North Dakota State went in trying to play an ugly game and they got their wish. 9-3 victory.
Ya have to give the Redturds credit. Their D played great - over their heads I'd say. (Although NDSU got robbed of a TD by the refs. ISU committed a flagrant pass interference in the end zone. The ref was right there looking at it - didn't say a word.) Turds really missed their starting QB - the kid playing instead wasn't great.
I'm really beginning to think James Madison might win it all. NDSU has a great D. They don't have a great running back like they have had the past years. I'd take our backs any day over theirs. The Redturds pretty much shut down the NDSU offense today, held them to 128 yards rushing - I think JMU could also.

ISU also was robbed when the dropped lateral was ruled an incomplete pass.

True! Two really bad calls that prevented TDs, the difference being NDSU had driven all the way down the field and ended up settling for a FG. Final score should probably have been 13 - 10.
NDSU going to Chanpionship game.

With a couple of minutes left, JMU drives down to the 2 yard line. With 8 secs left, NDSU intercepts a pass at the goal line to preserve 28 - 20 win over James Madison. Trey Lance rushed for 166 yards. NDSU was outgained overall by JMU, who also had more 1st downs. NDSU only passed 10 times for just 72 yards.
NDSU won the first half. JMU won the second I'd say.
The bad news for the Dawgs is that we have three more years of Trey Lance, unless he leaves early for the draft! FCS Freshman and Offensive Player of the Year.
I don't care that they're in the Valley, the North Dakota State thing isn't fun anymore
That's why we need to ramp up the QB position and beat their azz next year! Our D played them tougher than JMU's did.
...I watched every play of the FCS Division IAA championship game--NDSU won by eight. Another national championship for that program.
At times NDSU looks unstoppable on offense and unbreakable on defense...and I wonder if SIU will ever compete with them.
At other times NDSU doesn't look all that different from SIU.
One thing is clear: while a successful passing game is a necessary but not sufficient condition for winning FCS playoff games...a successful running game is both necessary and sufficient.
All of which means that (in my opinion if Nick Hill is smart...) SIU's opponents will get a heavy dose of the young man from Centralia next fall.
At the same time, the game was close at the end only because NDSU went conservative on their last two drives and let their freshman QB run the ball in the manner that J. Williams runs the wildcat for SIU--James Madison wised up and was able to stop NDSU on a couple of big short yardage plays.
So if everybody knows that a shotgun QB is going to take the snap and run with it...it doesn't always 'work'.
People who know more football than me talk a lot about SIU's (lack of) D-line play a lot. I guess it was a lot better in 2019 under Petrino et al...but I'd be hard-pressed to say exactly why. I did wonder whether SIU would have been able to stop either team's running game today.
I also may look back and try to watch the NDSU-Illinois State playoff game (9-3 final)...just what did the Redbirds do so well in the game to render NDSU so impotent?
(1) US COVID-19 statistics (February 29, 2020-June 16, 2020): 2,124,000 reported cases and 115,052 deaths
(2) Donald Trump (June 15, 2020) told a group of senior citizens that there would be very few cases of COVID-19 if the US stopped its testing and contact tracing: "If we stop testing right now, we'd have very few cases, actually."
(3) Donald Trump [(Jan 20, 2020), when asked if he's worried about a pandemic]: “No. Not at all. And we have it totally under control. It’s one person coming in from China, and we have it under control. It’s — going to be just fine.”
We held them to a fewer yards rushing than JMU did, for what it's worth. We're also only the team besides SDSU in the last couple of years to rush for more than 200 yards against them.
We also held them to their 2nd lowest point total of the season.
And .... some dumb play calling when we had a 1st down on their 5 yard line prevented us from scoring another TD. We also missed a 44 yard FG.
With two great WRs, if we had a passing QB that NH trusted, our offense could be even tougher to stop.
Saw the Redturd game. They played their best game of the year - especially their D - very tough against the run And the pass. Also thought NDSU did some dumb, conservative play calling that kept the 'Turds in the game. Don't forget earlier in the year, NDSU crushed the Redturds 37 - 3 in Abnormal.
I thought NDSU made some poor play calls in the 2nd half of the JMU game that killed good drives.. but I loved that fake FG call - won the game for them.
