DuneHawks would have been good.  Hawks are boring in general but DuneHawks is unique and tied into the Indiana Dunes.  Beacons might be the worst team name in D1 now.

I was kinda hopin' for Sandfleas.

Don't really care what they call themselves as long as they up their game in the college basketball landscape.  They need to help elevate the MVC.

Valpo also changed their name in 1941 because 'Uhlan' had an association with Nazi Germany.

I'll admit, had to look that one up.  Interesting.

After discussing this with my 16 year old daughter, we combined to come up with thee safest mascot for Valpo... the non-oppressed free range koalas!!  Not sure how this will look at half court:

Big Fat Bullet Style Journal Cute Koala Bear In Flowers: Huge Dot Grid Book For Journaling Over 300 Numbered Pages (Flower Animals Series): Journals, Paper Dog: 9781073817665: Amazon.com: Books

Given the circumstances, I think it would look quite appropriate. Insanity reigns supreme these days.

Good job, Valpo. I wouldn't want you to do something totally crazy like using that money to renovate your River to River Conference gym or anything.

That's just loser talk.
