Does anyone know what EIU is doing so well?
I'm not sayin' -- I'm just sayin'!
Just stick a fork in them already, i dont see any way they bounce back
Is SIUC the only campus in the Illinois public higher education system dropping enrollment at a high rate?
Spin alert: We met expectations.
The enrollment decline at the Carbondale campus was expected, Chancellor Carlo Montemagno said in a Tuesday news release, as the graduating senior class was replaced by a much smaller group of freshmen.

No . Most IL schools outside of UIUC, UIC, and ISU have seen enrollment decreases .

Eh, I'm pessimistic about the state of SIU but Eastern Illinois looked in bad shape a few years ago but they've started to turn it around. They're showing that changes can be made. Just wonder if SIU has the right people in charge to make those changes.
How did EIU increase enrollment? Not surprising. Hired a marketing firm to promote them and added majors that today's students want. Exactly what we've been saying. SIU has got to get it's administrators out of it, and have outside people do it. SIU people are too close to the situation and obviously don't have the ability to detach themselves and look from the outside in.

I feel the problem for SIU that Eastern doesnt have is SIU has a sister school which is on the opposite trajectory. Its only a matter of time until a major relocation of resources occurs, which puts SIU even more behind the eight ball
“The best thing about freshmen is that they become sophomores.”

This has to be SIU's top priority. The fact that the Carbondale campus hasn't had someone dedicated to correcting this issue until recently is not only negligent, but stupid. It's another indictment of Randy Dunn's lack of focus, lack of leadership, and probably his lack of caring about SIU's flagship campus. That guy should not still be employed in SIU's system. Someone should be keeping close tabs on his contributions as a "professor" at the Edwardsville campus. Sounds to me, like his salary in his new role is simply a donation to the Dunn family until this pot licker finds his next gig.
The board extended Dunn when the enrollment was still going downwards.
Dunn is gone, but the people who hired him mostly remain up top. Same for the extension. We are only 1/3 of the way into the needed Royal Flush that needs to occur at SIU. To focus on Dunn anymore ignores the other problems (Monty and the BOT).

At the present time, we're a parasite on the e campus. You make it seem as though somehow e is holding us back.

SIU can turn this around with the appropriate changes and sustainable vision for the future. There are still A Lot of folks....too many, that are opposed to change and that's a big problem. Time to get over it and get onboard or find another job.
