DBU up on Evansville 7-4 in the 5th. Let's hope they can hold out. Would be nice to have a small cushion going into the Illinois St series.
What a great weekend! One game up with 3 to play. I’ll be at Illinois State next weekend.
If anyone is in the central Illinois area, the annual Callahan Saluki baseball fundraiser is Wednesday (5/18) at DH Brows in Springfield. 4-8. Coach Rhodes will be there.
Come say hi!
Win 2 next weekend and we get the regular season chip. I think Illinois St is better than their record indicates, so I expect a battle.
I think I heard Reis say our last tournament championship was way back in 1990. Anyone know the last regular season championship?

Wikipedia says 1990 for both
Our RPI is up to 71 after the sweep this weekend. Anyone who follows baseball know what we'd have to get up to to be in the conversation for an at-large to the NCAA tourney?

As of 5/11, Baseball America and D1 Baseball didn't have SIU in the picture:

Both are putting Dallas Baptist as an at-large and Evansville as the MVC Champion in.
RPI seems to value strength of schedule over wins. Evansville played a number of high rpis teams, lost every single game to them, has an inferior record to ours (lost 2 of 3 to us), and still has an RPI of 68. Makes no friggin sense!
Evill RPI 68
29 - 20, 13 - 5 MVC, 1-6 Quad1, 4-5 Quad2, 11-4 Quad3, 13-5 Quad4
SIU RPI 70
38 - 13, 14 - 4 MVC, 2-1 Quad1, 6-2 Quad2, 8-1 Quad3, 22-9 Quad4
Wasn't the MVC ranked 5th or 6th in the nation? Has that changed because I would think that would help the Dawgs chances at getting in. Win the tourney and the above won't matter.
Baseball America has SIU in now and in the Nashville regional with Vandy, UConn, and UCLA

Biggest series of the season (maybe in years) starts tonight. 6pm on ESPN+.
Evansville hosts Valpo tonight too. Root for the Beacons.
Go Dawgs!
Salukis had the bases loaded, nobody out in the 1st and can't score. Hit into a double play when the batter flew out and then got hit by the throw home

I didn't see it, but the announcers on ESPN+ were puzzled by the ruling.
