I think I read on Twitter it's because the Valley has a rule that enforces, for the two teams in the championship, an equal (or near equal) number of games as the home team during the tournament, regardless of which team is the higher seed.
Kind of a bizarre rule.
Good job by McDaniel getting out of that jam. Gives SIU a bit of life.
Unfortunately, it looks like the first game is going to end up costing them in the end. Props for going on a run of beating Dallas Baptist, Evansville, and Missouri State in a few days but it came at a cost.
My dislike for Missouri State grows a little more.
