Absolute load of crap and I bet the commissioner sold us out.
Reg season champions by 4 games over DBU. Eliminate them from the tournament where they finish 4.
Win 3 of 4 from those humps and they get the bid.
Screw the NCAA. Corrupt shitshow.
Cherry pick metrics much?
Metrics like we won the f'n league?
If the MVC is a two team league then the only metric that matters is head to head.
We finished 4 games ahead of them. Took the series on their field.
You keep defending DBU over the Salukis.
It's a good look for you. 🙄

Metrics like this?
"MVC champ SIU - 50
2nd place Big 10 teams Rutgers - 58, Iowa - 66, Illinois - 71
DBU - 60"
Leave the board. 🤡

If you want to bring me up on charges of not being a full-on homer, have at it.
Whether it’s baseball or basketball or whatever, teams from non-power leagues generally aren’t going to get at-larges unless they are special both inside and outside of conference. Dallas Baptist played and beat multiple elite teams.
Southern had a great season and it sucks they didn’t get in, but that weak non-con schedule was a problem.
DBU was just over .500 in the MVC, 1 - 3 against us, finished the season with 4 out of 6 losses. Ridiculous they got in over us. Obviously the committee valued RPI above anything else, and as we all know, it made little sense all year - values strength of schedule over anything else.
The Army AD said DBU was 19 - 9 against teams in the field - 4 of those wins over Mo St and SEMO. That means they were only 15 - 11 against teams Not in the field.
Our ELO ranking is higher than a bunch of teams that got in. We had better Quad1 and Quad records than a number of teams that got in.
Not surprised we got screwed. The NCAA is good at that.
SIU had 2 chances to beat Missouri State and get in (I think they would have won had they won the opening game) and they lost both of them. Great season but hard to argue they should be in. Have to improve the schedule next year.
Not hard to argue when the ACC and SEC get 9 teams in a piece. Over 25% of the field is from those two leagues.

You and SIUDAWGS - sure you aren't Morris??
Hard to argue we should be in? Bulls h i t! 9 ACC teams? 9 SEC teams? Get your head screwed on straight! Here's some cherry pickin' for you.
- Won the MVC
- kicked DBU's butt and Mo St's head to head
- won every series in the MVC
- 14 - 5 against Quad 1 and 2
- 22 - 5 against Quad 1,2, and 3
- 9 - 3 against teams that are in
It really comes down to the fact that SIU played 33 quad 4 games this year and lost 11 of them. They just didn't play tough enough teams. The scheduling has to get better in non-conference. Plus, SIU had a chance to play their way in and lost twice to Missouri State.
This was a great season that ended with another bitter pill. Very proud of our guys. That said, I would urge anyone who thinks DBU isn't worthy to look at their strength of schedule out of conference.
Theirs is #1 in the nation.
Ours is 272.
End of story.
Quite simply, their 34 wins meant more than our 44. Throw in that they were a win away from the CWS a year ago, and the at-large debate was never a fair fight. If we're going to get serious about at-large bids we have to bulk it up.
Bluster and barbeque don't win championships.
This makes me feel a bit better. In addition to winning 45 games, Rutgers had an RPI of 42.

I've always hated conference tournaments - rewarding a mediocre team that plays well for a few games but wasn't the best team in the conference. How about New Mexico State in the NCAAs with a 24 - 32 record? What a joke!
No question we need to beef up our schedule to prevent future screw jobs. No question we got screwed. That computer stuff is always subject to statistical confounding. I give 2 s h i t s what some computer algorithm says about schedule strength. Those algorithms by necessity start with all kinds of assumptions about team strength, conferences, etc. That's why they're bs. I don't believe for one second that DBU had the 2nd toughest schedule in the country. That belongs to a bunch of teams in the SEC, a very good baseball conference! Top 50 yes.
There is No better metric than head to head! DBU was not great in the MVC, the MVC tournament, or head to head against us (1 - 3)! They had some nice wins early but weren't better than average late in the year. How about not getting to the championship and getting beat 21 - 3 by Evansville.
Committee completely ignored that and the eye test they love to trot out in basketball when they're screwing a mid-major.
Nobody needs an algorithm to know that Texas Tech Oklahoma, Oklahoma state, Maryland, La. Tech, Baylor and TCU is big boy baseball.
272 isn't going to get it done. Ever.

Yes they played some good teams. Yes we need to improve our schedule.
Nobody needs an algorithm to see DBU was just 11-9-1 in the MVC, 1 - 3 against SIU, 0 - 2 -1 against Indiana St., 1 - 2 against the Redturds, lost to Evansville 21 -3 in the tournament, ended the year on a 2 - 4 run. Impressive.
I don't care who the f DBU played earlier - they weren't close to the best team in the MVC. We were.
Screwed by the NCAA.
According to the nolan RPI live site our SOS is 187.
