Watching the highlights and box score looks like DBU isn't like a well deserved at large ahead of the Dawgs or any other well deserved at large bid that was passed over
MSU is about to knock off Grand Canyon after being down 1-7 through 7 innings.
Pretty incredible comeback.
And now the Bears are up 9-0 in the 2nd against Oklahoma State. They sure peaked at the right time this year.
So much for that lead. OSU with a monster comeback and they’re up 17-14 over the Bears in the 6th.
Crazy.
29-15 Oklahoma State win over Missouri State. Incredible stuff.
Lots of pitching optional games in the tournament so far looks like the Dawgs could have competed if given the chance
Sure not surprised DBU went 0 - 2. Poor representative for the MVC in their last year, and definitely not the same quality as their previous teams. Also not surprised a MoSt team won a game with their hitting and playing their best ball at the end of the year. Their opponent Grand Canyon being in the tournament surprised baseball writers (as did Ole Miss), considering a strong Big 10 opponent Rutgers got left out.
I understand the committee needs some sort of objective tools to help make their dumb decisions. The RPI has been abandoned in basketball for the AI-based .NET. Whether that's more accurate or not remains to be seen. (It includes margin of victory.)
This year's committee put more emphasis on non-conference scheduling. Not sure how that makes a lot of sense since most of those games are early in the year. Lance basically said the same thing.
ELO is a ranking from the chess world based on wins and losses. It won't give an inordinate emphasis to the vaporous non-conference strength of schedule computer-generated-somehow number. Our ELO was the best in the MVC (49) - almost 20 points better than DBU's. No surprise.
Both Big 10 teams (1st place Maryland and 5th place Michigan) are still alive and playing today for a berth in a Super-Regional. I saw both Northwestern and Illinois in person this year. Lot of good teams in that league - they beat each other up.
U of I Springfield is in the D2 Final Four today.
Against Coppin St, an E. Carolina switch hitter hit two HRs in the same inning, one from the left and one from the right! Has that ever happened before????
#1 ranked Tennessee is is in the Super regional with a 55 - 7 record!
Update from tobacco road:
This may finally be the year for the ECU pirates. Hosting texas next weekend, two wins away from a CWS.
UNC getting ready to start vs. VCU. Tarheels have a patchwork pitching staff, locals are nervous.
One of the most underrated teams in the field was Campbell. Big win over georgia tech, had a lead on tennessee but couldn't hold it. Then had to face tech again. Went home 1-2.
Bluster and barbeque don't win championships.
#12 Louisville scores 4 in the bottom of the 8th to nip Michigan and go to the Super Regional!
UConn and Maryland play tonight for the Super Regional.
UIS loses (3 - 2) their chance at a D2 Nat'l Championship.
My brother's grandson's school Salisbury State is playing in the D3 National Championship game. Free steak if they win!!
Maryland is an absolute mess, first six runs on one hit. Gotta hit their way out of this.

Well Ole Miss proved the talking heads wrong. Got hot at the end of the season, made it to the SEC Championship game, and now they're in the Super Regional. I'm rooting for S. Miss or E. Carolina. Tennessee is the heavy favorite to win it all, followed by Stanford and Virginia Tech.
The Dawgs certainly got the shaft from the selection committee this year. Sounds like Rhodes needs to upgrade the non-conference schedule if SIU is going to have a shot at an at large bid.
Tennessee is really starting to rub me the wrong way. How obnoxious can a team and it's fans get?

Notre Dame knocks off Tennessee. Vols were huge favorites to win it all and maybe the most dominant college baseball team we've seen in years.
