Today is the day. Is ANYONE hearing ANYTHING ??
Nothing yet.
According to verbalcommits, the only signing in the MVC today is DJ Shine signing with Murray St.

Seeing a bunch of others on Twitter/X: Illinois State, Northern Iowa, Valpo, Belmont, etc.
We will not be signing anyone early.
Lot of excuses, explanations, etc can be provided and they even may make logical sense, but in MY OPINION, this is more bad news. No one, and I mean no one, can tell me that not signing anyone, or having any real possible significant signable targets, is better than had we inked 1,2 or more difference makers to inject some life/positivity into this program.
Before anyone mentions how recruiting has changed, I saw a TON of other programs announce significant signings yesterday.
Kamren Martin holds an offer from SIU and as of this morning, he has not signed with anyone yet. I don't know if he will sign with SIU, but he is still a possibility.
Kamren Martin just committed to Long Beach State. Disappointing news.
Gonna be tougher to navigate the portal with the NCAA cracking down on second time transfers. You might have good players fall to you though that are worth sitting a year but how long do you keep kicking the can down the road? The last 4 rebuild led to nothing.
I think expectations need to be set higher with this staff. I expected to at least have made an NIT by now. Let’s Go! Get the recruiting and coaching ramped up.

I couldn't agree more. Increase the expectations and stop looking for excuses. I personally found it disheartening reading about all the signings this past week, yet despite hiring an accomplished recruiter we could not manage a single player? Still plenty of hope for the Spring, but it would be so much nicer already having players NOW instead of HOPING for them later.
We have at least 3 spots to fill next year with Brown, X, and McGee. Probably at least one more because that is how things work with the transfer portal. I would have loved to see at least one high end HS player signed, but things seemed to have shifted to a more transfer heavy approach in the spring for a lot of teams. I’m hopeful we will be able to grab some impact players in the spring, but with Mullins only guaranteed one more year as things stand, 4 year players are probably harder to get.
After a good year in 2023-24 we’ll get Jaden Schutt (currently not playing at Duke) and Ben Schweiger (currently not playing at Loyola for some reason) to come back home and pair with another transfer PG and high school prospect and everyone will be happy. That’s my story and I’m sticking to it 😂

I think a lot of us think the 23-10 was a bit of smoke and mirrors last year but it still could have been a selling point to transfers and 2024 HS guys and it didn't seem like it was. I'm guessing SIU's style of play the last 4 years was a huge deterrent in recruiting.
@salukiworld We obviously agree re: the style of play and recruiting results. I expect, or certainly hope, it improves once players see SIU no longer plays slow ball.
