With all the excitement about Luke Walsh I decided to look up his stats for this season. Through 19 games he is averaging 34.2 pts/gm. He takes an average of 20.2 shots/gm, 9.8 threes/gm and 8.7 free throws/gm. His overall shooting % is 50.2%, his two point % is 61/1%, his 3 point % is 44.9% and his free throw % is 81.8%. He is also averaging 5.2 rebounds/gm, 3.1 assists/gm, 3.2 turnovers/gm and 2.5 fouls/gm. He has 0 blocked shots this season. Overall, very good stats. He is not super human, however, and has had a couple of bad shooting games including games he was 0 for 5 and 1 for 7 from three.

Vianney plays very tough competition so those stats aren't watered down, as opposed to someone like Foster Wonders who had great stats but played against very poor competition in high school. With all the excitement about Luke Walsh I decided to look up his stats for this season. Vianney beat St. Louis University High 78-56. Walsh with 30.
Walsh had 31 in a losing cause at Chaminade. He also grabbed 8 rebounds.
I obviously have no idea how to properly share this video, but the link should work. Just a video of him draining like 25 in a row from the corner in practice.
He's got good form and rotation. Decent release point. If Steffe continues to improve from 3 and Moo and Elliott improve just a little from the outside we could really turn around our outside shooting prospects next year.

Very impressive and no doubt, the kid can score. Assuming the core of this lineup returns next year, and they clean up the godawful unforced TO's and sloppy cupcake layups, Salukis are going to be a force to be reckoned with. Free throw shooting is getting much better.
March on triumphantly!
Lots of big IF’s here guys. Not to sound like a Debbie downer, but the portal will hit. I will admit it’s fun to think about how good we could be next year, just adding in Elijah Elliot to the group.

I've pondered this, too. Hoping the staff will do everything in its power to keep KD and Mayo, who really seem to have set the tone during SIU's rebound from 5-11. Steffe is attaining that status, too. Would be nice to keep Aligbe and Moreno as well. At this point (and things could change by the end of the season, of course), Sykes seems iffy, Massey probably is a prime portal candidate, and Sharp seems to be heading in that direction based on recent developments. Beyond that? Does Elliott come back, and if so, will he be the same player he was after such a severe injury? What about the two redshirts? Still, I'm feeling much better about the outlook than I was at the beginning of January, when mass portal defections seemed like a given. And yeah, if the core group of non-seniors returns, it could be fun.

Kennard will be hardest to keep, though I’m sure Nagy will give it his best shot. I would expect Mayo and Steffe back, and also project Webber will make his Saluki debut next year. Beyond that, a bit of a crapshoot at this stage.

The downside to having success at a mid-major in this day and age.
Here’s hoping he continues to excel, but that Kennard doesn’t quite end up on the radar of any high majors.
