Another good addition for Drake.

I promise folks we have a commit. The staff is waiting for him to announce. I have no clue why it has taken 5 days but kids 🤣

Does commit mean something was signed?
I just hope Jerrance can convince a couple players or just one that is beyond our means so to speak.
Supporter of the Fab 4: Scottie Ebube, Foster Wonders, AJ Ferguson & Cade Hornecker.
They’re the ones that can get us where we haven’t been in 15 years.
I don’t know what was signed. I just know that too many people have contacted me for this not to be done. The staff is waiting on the kid
Whoever this mystery signee is, I hope he is a contributor and not just someone to fill our an empty roster spot because the portal cupboard is beginning to look a bit bare.
Possibly waiting till the May 11 deadline is over, if it's a frontcourt player there is going to be alot of competition for limited minutes if the rotations are similar to last season. I'm sure the bigs that sat last year are expecting to play alot this year, or they will enter portal next year. If the player feels like he is getting recruited over for this season they could have entered this week
If it's the player I think it is he would probably play at the 4 mostly, along with D'Amico. I truly think we will go bigger with D'Amico starting at the 4 or this new commit starting at the 4. That would allow Ferguson and Davis to play the 3 at 6'6" and both athletic. It would also allow Rupert, Ebube and Hornecker to rotate at the 5. I also wouldn't doubt that the staff gives Rupert some time and training at the 4 during summer workouts and fall practice. I know we went small a lot last year, but I believe that will change next year.Possibly waiting till the May 11 deadline is over, if it's a frontcourt player there is going to be alot of competition for limited minutes if the rotations are similar to last season. Can we do something about the rebounding? Hopefully that will change too.
The staff has to improve the offense and make sure they can play big or small depending on the situation. Right now it appears we really only play one big and the other 4 guys play the one through 3. That didn’t work out well against teams with length, like Bradley. Gotta pick it up!
sounds like a good plan, I like it, this season should be interesting . And of course Another big is announced a day after portal closes. Coincidence? Not really SIU related but I thought I’d share this here.
I ran into SEMO’s leading scorer Phillip Russel this morning and he told me that after he entered the portal, he ended up trying to return to SEMO. Coach Korn already filled his spot and told him there was no room. That’s wild to me considering that he averaged 18 ppg and 5 assists per game I believe. He was the kind of scorer I hoped SIU would get in on.
Just goes to show that sometimes these portal entries leads to regrets. UT Arlington it is for him.
There may be more to that story than he is telling you. Korn and SEMO obviously moved on and may or may not regret it. Good player doesn't always result in good teammate. No inside knowledge, just a possibility. Not really SIU related but I thought I’d share this here.

SEMO is in better position to take bigger risks than SIU so if they’re recruiting over a talented player like Russell, there’s probably something wrong there

My guess is for Korn it came down to loyalty to the program and the culture he is trying to build there.
The message Brad just sent to the rest of his players is pretty evident! Not letting your highest scorer return this year says a lot to the next player that wants to try the portal next year!
