Marquee win for the women!  Way to go!  Just need more consistency out of this group.  They have the potential to be in the post season, but haven't been able to put it together on a consistent basis.

I just got a chance to watch the replay of SIU's win over MSU.  What a great win for SIU.. SIU outcoached, outhustled,  and went toe to toe with a top 20 team.  SIU held their own against their physicality.  That is what had to be done to have a chance against them.  SIU proved it can win against any team in the MVC on a given night.  SIU needs to get 2 wins next weekend which should not be a problem and then try to win both the IL State and Bradley games which will be difficult, as Bradley is really playing some basketball now.   SIU has the toughest schedule in the MVC the second half of the conference season as  it will have to play the  5 best opponents on the road.  So I think SIU will be a solid 5th place finisher.  That was just a great win for SIU.  I have watched most of the games MSU has played on the internet from very late last year until now as I am a basketball junkie and love to watch good basketball .  Make no mistake about it SIU beat a great team.  While it is true that it is  the worst game I have seen MSU play over that period SIU deserves much of the credit for taking it to them. Remember SIU just put it to a team that lost only one player from a team that went to the SWEET 16 last year and ended last season by beating 3 ranked teams in a row away from home by a double digit average before losing to perennial power Stanford in a physical battle.  Then they opened this season with a 10 point or so win at a ranked Minnesota team and have since easily beat South Dakota on the road, who is currently ranked in the top 25   Their two previous losses this year were to top 10 RPI teams on the road one of which MSU led by 8 points midway through the 3rd quarter.  So SIU should gain tremendous confidence from this win but realize that every game is going to be a battle (probably excepting the two teams SIU is playing next weekend).  For the benefit of the MVC I hope SIU awoke a sleeping giant from their slumber as I love to see MVC teams do well in the post season and I think Missouri State has the potential to make another Sweet 16 run if they can get out of the rut they have been in for the last 1.5 months or so.  Drake seems to be rebounding after a rough stretch and we will see about Bradley.  The scary part is that Bradley is very young this year and Mo State has only one senior among its top 9 players.  Unfortunately Drake and SIU lose several seniors but hopefully they can reload and the MVC will remain strong and fun to watch

I just turned it on and SIU has dominated the 4th quarter.  Getting everything at the rim and Evansville can't stop it

That was a weird game. Thank God we didn't lose to a 3-win team. Evansville shot out of thier mind in the first half. At one point they were shooting 80% from 3 and 65% fron the field.

On to ISUb.

Women cut down the Trees 78-55. Silvey with 23. Martin coming off the bench (? Wonder what that's about) with 16. Gabby Walker starting in her place with 10.

Winners of three straight. Up to 4-3 in conference. Big homestand coming up, ISRr and league-leader Bradley.

End of three...

ISUr  44  -  SIU 42

Very disjointed game. No flow. Refs are too involved. They like hearing thier whistles.

Not good.

ISUr - 62. SIU 54

This was a bad loss. Poor shooting. Refs too involved.

Let me amend...

Lots of missed open shots. We missed at least 5 open or lightly contested bunnies. Lots of cheap calls. That resulted in them getting to the line 8 more times and 7 more made FT's. Poor rebounding effort. Only 2-19 from three.

When we attacked the basket good things happened. But when we stopped that we looked bad.

Nicole Martin with two quick crap called fouls. She was on the floor less than 10 minutes.

Said it before - this was a bad loss.

Now we get a Bradley team that got smacked down by The Bears 90-56 at JQH.

Multiple times Brockmeyer and others had the ball down low but instead of aggressively driving for at least probable FTs, we whip it back out where somebody jacks up a quick off-balance three. No adjustments. Redturds are not that good!  Not the best coached game I ever saw - a game we should have won. I had to quit watching.
