Game 2 at 4PM - crazy windy here today. Worse than yesterday. At times ump stopped play for a small dust storm.
Saluki softball is certainly starting to look and play like the team picked to win the MVC. 16-14 overall 8-0 MVC. 3 game series @ Belmont next weekend will be another good test. Young pitchers starting to figure it out.
This program IMO is the best SIU currently has to offer.

Good job to bounce back after the ugly start
The ladies will be facing the premier pitcher in the MVC next weekend, likely to see her on Friday and Sunday.
UNI the other nemesis remaining on the schedule has excellent pitching as well. As a bummer, Belmont and UNI do NOT face each other this year so our ladies just better take care of things themselves.
Just swept 3 at Valpo. They are awful.
Our young team is really improving. One thing we have is really good hitters. Lots of players hitting over .300.
Emily Williams, transfer from Morehead, is a serious threat to hit a home run every at-bat (as is Jackie Lis, who gets semi-intentionally walked half the time.) EW just set the SIU record for rbis with 8 in a game. (was held by Jackie Lis)
Belmont will be way more of a challenge with better pitching.
Our record is not as good as Belmont's...but we have played a way tougher schedule so that is deceiving.
To back up my deep concern about Belmont's studette pitcher, she has 188 K's and 8 BB's in 100.1 innings.
