When was the last time the ladies went to the tournament? (Too lazy to look it up right now.)
Just looked it up ...eight runs after 5 innings including the postseason.
The rule says the umpire may call it.

Think it was 2 years ago when Sarah Harness pitched absolutely great in this tournament then she decided to transfer to Nebraska where she's doing very well she was a heck of a pitcher ...in the NCAA tournament however she just could not throw strikes she walked a lot of people and southern lost the first two games

Yes I think maybe that was the first time she'd ever been thrown out of a game ..the umpire made a really bad call .... don't remember what it was might have just been not giving Harness the corners or something
I think she got tossed pretty early in the game. Maybe even the 1st inning.

Now that I think about it, pretty sure it was the Ariz. St. game where Harness walked like 6 batters and had to be taken out. I think the ump would absolutely not call a strike for Sarah on the outside edge of the plate and Coach Blaylock had made several remarks to the ump, finally said a little too much and got tossed. I watched that game and that ump was just ridiculous. Pitches that umps normally call a strike were balls to that Bozo. Greg Maddux would have never been a major league pitcher with umps like that idiot.
Yep - found this:
"It didn't take long for Southern Illinois softball coach Kerri Blaylock to have her fill of umpire Jason Smith.
Blaylock, in her 22nd season, was ejected in the first inning Thursday night after Arizona State's first four batters walked against Salukis' ace Sarah Harness, who then gave up a two-run double to Yanni Acuna at Farrington Stadium...
The game not only included a first-inning ejection but also heavy rain in the sixth inning before ASU's largest crowd of the season given an increase to 50 percent capacity. Umpire Smith drew the ire of both sides with a strike zone that Southern Illinois described on its social media as being the size of a postage stamp."
Let's hope this team faces no such obstacles. Depending upon which regional we get put in, we could end up playing Nebraska and Sarah Harness. (threw a nohitter and was Big 10 pitcher of the week at least once this year)
I've seen a number of games this year - really like this team - they've got some spirit and never quit. Good mix of younger and older players.
Kick Ass Dawgs!
Congratulations to the ladies hopefully some time off we get them some rest especially Madi
