Congratulations to Coach Rosalind Joseph and the SIU track team on landing mid-year transfer Elisia Lancaster from Towson University in Maryland. This thrower has solid numbers in all disciplines and will learn a lot under the tutelage of Coach Lambert.
Rosalind Joseph back to OSU
As long as Coach Lambert stays, we are in good shape,
Go Dawgs!
As long as Coach Lambert stays, we are in good shape,
It's great that we have such a strong throws program, but we need a lot more than throwers. Sick of the ISUs winning the MVC every year!
Years ago we had so many great runners for the men - David Lee, Michael Franks, Ivory Crockett. Sure be nice to see that part of the program pick up.
Absolutely. It seems to me that during my time and, actually, all the Lew Hartzog years, we had well-balanced teams. Lew recruited and signed sprinters, distance men, jumpers, throwers...whatever we needed, he tried to fill the void. Not all of us were All Americans, but we would bust a gut to try to win for the Salukis.
And it was a staff of two; Lew Hartzog and an assistant coach...be it Aubrey Dooley, Rick Smith or whomever.
As long as Coach Lambert stays, we are in good shape,
So about that…
Not happy with this. Anyone but the freakin' Illini. Can't fault JC Lambert for trying to improve his situation but losing he and DeAnna is a big blow for the team, the University and the Carbondale community.
Makes me wonder if Lambert had been offered the job to replace Coach Jospeh and run the whole program, would he still be a Saluki?
@risaluki Bet you a million bucks the fact that they didn't name him HC is exactly the reason they left. SIU named Richard Jones HC today.
I'm sure J.C.'s getting a nice bump in pay from his SIU assistant's salary. Can't blame JC, although it makes me ill and really hurts our track program.
HC Jones really has his work cut out for him now.
No offense to Coach Jones, but what does it say about advancement at SIU when a highly successful former Saluki athlete and extremely successful assistant coach, who spent all that time in Carbondale, is seemingly passed over for the top job.
So much for rewarding loyalty to the University.
@risaluki It tells me that they hired the best candidate.
I'm not sayin' -- I'm just sayin'!
@beadmedaddio Don't get me wrong, I am not against the hiring of Coach Jones. I met him when he first came aboard and have spent time with him when I return for Homecoming...including last month. I wish him and my Dawgs nothing but the best.
