This was a quick hire...

Rosalind Joseph, a two-time All-American triple jumper at Ohio State University, was introduced Monday as the Salukis' new director of track and field/cross country. She has been the associate head coach of the Buckeyes' combined program the last six years and an assistant coach there for the last 10.

I don't want to rain on the parade of new SIU Director of Track & Field and Cross Country Rosalind Joesph and, as an old Lew Hartzog trackman, I wish here nothing but success.  But this whole scenario doesn't pass the smell test for me.  Coach Raske's "resignation" is announced on Thursday and a new coach is in place on Monday.  I realized I don't have all the facts and there could be more to it, but I'm not buying what SIU Athletics is selling.

"We could be more excited on this day to get a superstar in track and field."  SIU AD Jerry Kill.  HELLO, we had one in Coach Kathleen Raske.

My guess is Raske let Kill know she was moving on a while ago and Kill got busy and filled the spot. Very happy this spot was filled so quickly and she sounds good on paper.

I don't trust Kill in this position and farther than I could throw him. Anyone remind you that Kill sued SIU over a contract Kill breached because Kill didn't get his way?

Craving a McBride Special!

I'm with you, fully agree.  Something smells rotten in Denmark; and smells downright septic tank-like in Carbondale.

TO: Kevin Dorsey

SUBJECT:  Septic Tank Cleaning Required

Clean out the septic tank.  ASAP.  Start with Carlo, then Jerry, then Huckster.  For starters.

Go Dawgs!

I'm definitely not a big fan of Jerry Kill like I used to be many, many years ago.

The timing of this - when everyone is either checked out or paying attention to the drama going on in Stone Center (the system office) and in the BOT, seems very weird.

IF the Carbondale BOT members truly care about the place and want to get off my proverbial deuce list, a nice place to start would be reminding Jerry he is the interim athletic director and that a new search can be green lighted. If that doesn't work, surely someone else can be found to do the duty of interim athletic director. I hope Dr. Dorsey is paying close attention. I don't think Carlo is, he is too busy trying to save his own job.
