Just tuned into the game, and having a WTF?!?!?! moment. Dawgs at DRAKE up 43-35 at halftime. We scored 43 TOTAL in our last game.
With NO Brockmeyer!
Silvey with 13 and Pudlowski with 10 at the half.

Dawgs up 7pts after 3. 57-51
Drake has come back to Earth a bit after Hittner and Rhine graduating.

Salukis and Drake tied at 70 with 40.3 left
And they lose 74-70. Some ugly possessions towards the end.
Well - that sucked. Women coughed up thier lead and lost 74-70.
I hate Drake.

And they lose 74-70. Some ugly possessions towards the end.
Yeah - that inbounds turnover by Mak... Stein should take her back to the hotel throw her in the pool, cover it and make her stay in it all night.

And yet another loss to the Drake. 83-54.
Just no firepower down low. Only one real post player. Can't deal with a team that has any height or length.
I'm officially calling this season a Scrimmage Season. Nothing matters, every game is a scrimmage.

Winner, winner. 84-69.
Wasn't even that close. We were up 20+ for most of the 4th. Garbage time got the Trees closer.
Mak with 26. Walker with17. P-Mac with 14.
Still no Brockmeyer.
(Sorry - I forgot - we're at the Trees. Nice road win.)

I saw this tidbit earlier...
Only four players from the opening day roster have been available for every game so far.
Juniors McCallister and Link. And Freshman Katcher and Love.

Aaaaand another winner.
We beat the Trees for another Indiana sweep. 76-52. Trees cut a 7 point halftime lead down to one at 36-35, Dawgs closed the game on a 40-17 run.
Mak with a big weekend. 21 today, 47 for the weekend.
Pudlowski with a career high 13. Sophomore Allea Potter career high 7. McCallister with 11. Gabby Walker a non factor after the refs had it in for her. She fouled out with 6.
Nice win. Good D. Next up Lady Bears at Banterra. Rest of the schedule all at home. Bears, Crusaders and Panthers.
We have a chance to finish strong and get above .500. Not holding my breath on the Mizzou State game, but good chance to win some being at home for the finish where we are 3-1 in Valley play.
GO DAWGS!

Hard to believe this is her first POW honor.

At home vs Lady Bears...
Loss 67-55. No Brockmeyer, big problem.
MSU goes 6-3, 6-2, 6-3 up front. With a 6-4 woman who looks like Ogre from Revenge Of The Nerds off the bench. We just don't have the size to match anyone like this.
Let MSU go on a big run before halftime is where we lost it.
Walker with 20, Silvey with 14.

Critical loss 75-64. To "The Brown and Gold" of Valpo. (NOT alowed to call them Crusaders anymore.)
Damn - not having Brockmeyer is killing the women's team - like not having Domask for the men's team.
Valpo scorches from beyond the arc SEVENTY-FIVE PERCENT. 15 of 20?! Cheese and rice.
We had 4 in double figures Walker- 10 Link - 14 McCallister and Silvey each with 16.
Out rebounded them 31- 19. They shot nearly 60% overall.
This loss sucked.
"The bureaucratic mentality is the only constant in the universe." ~Dr. Leonard H. McCoy
Unbelievable.
Coughed up an 11 pt 2nd half lead. 9 in the fourth. Lost in overtime. 70-63.
Mak with 19. Walker with 15. P-Mac with 12.
There was an Awa Keita sighting.... hasnt played all season. Was in for about 90 seconds. 2 rebounds, 0-2 from the FT line. Would be nice to have her play a bit. She's 6-3. And if I remember - pretty crafty on defense.
This season has been just as dissapointing as the men's.

Regular season autopsy.....
After getting beaten up by Northern Iowa at home for the final two games - 67-56(Fri) then 64-41(Sat). We finish 8-15 (5-13 MVC 8th place). We will be playing ISUBlue in the play-in round on Thursday. We clobbered them both games at their place, but that doesn't really mean much come tourney time. We will have Abby Brockmeyer back, but I'm not expecting a whole lot from her since she has been out for damn near the whole conference season. She only played 10 games all year(?).
Saturday's game, they just looked tired and beat. Lots of lost games to injuries. I'll bet we had more games lost to injury and individual COVID isolations than anyone in the conference. When you're going up against teams that can throw 10-12 players a game at you when you can barely have 8 on any given night. Made for a lot of tentative play, couldn't afford foul trouble.
On Saturday, the UNI coach was making substitutions like hockey line changes. Three sometimes FOUR players at a time and the talent on the floor didn't fall off. She played 15, take out the two that only played a couple of minutes in garbage time and that's still THIRTEEN PLAYERS with 9 plus minutes. That's kinda what we faced with nearly every team in the conference.
We have five seniors. Silvey, Brockmeyer, Walker, Pudlowski, and Kieta. Three of those are post players. I honestly would like to see all five of them come back. Silvey could easily break the school scoring record. Brockmeyer is over 1000 pts, 700+ rebounds, 100+ blocks, 100+ assists and 99 steals. Walker, when she had Brockmeyer to play along side could be a dominator, and Keita was pretty crafty when she was on the floor last year. She played limited minutes in three games dealing with a knee injury. Oh yeah - and she's 6'3". That would help. It seemed like the Valley as a whole got bigger and taller this year and we just couldn't put any size on the floor to combat that.
Oh well; they played hard and were entertaining. Just wish they had been at full strength. Would liked to have seen that team.
