I think we have the advantage over Illinois State. The combined record of our of opponents is 30-44 (.405). The combined record of ISU's opponents is 33-30 (.524).
The tough part is SIU having 4 road games and 2 home games. ISU has 2 home games and 3 road games.
SIU has one "big game" left at ISU. ISU has three big games left against SIU, UNI and Missouri State.
A win for us at Redbird could very well win the Valley if we take care of business in the other five games.
This doesn't include today's games but our RPI is 46, but the NET is 75.
Let's go Dawgs!!
SIU vs Bradley 6:30 pm, Friday 2/18 at The Renaissance Coliseum (Magic 95.1 & ESPN+)
Series History:
Last time out at Banterra we broke a three game losing streak to the Braves winning 53-41. Stien is 18-5 against the Braves.
Overview Of Braves:
Bradley has fallen hard since earning the Valley’s auto bid to the NCAA tourney last year. After losing Gabbi Haack to a knee injury on Jan 1 (she was averaging 17 ppg at the time) the Bravoyles have only won once; a home victory over the Aces on February 6 th, 77-67. The Bravoyles rank near or at the bottom of every statistical category in the Valley except field goal percentage-defense (fourth) and three point shooting percentage (third).
Current Valley Standings/NET/RPI as of 2/17
1) Illinois State 11-2 (15-9) / 120 / 138
2) SIU 10-2 (15-7)/ 75 / 50
3) Missouri State 9-3 (18-5) / 41 / 34
4) Northern Iowa 9-4 (16-8) / 51 / 72
5) Loyola 6-7 (14-10) / 109 / 183
6) Valpo 6-7 (8-16) / 241 / 291
7) Indiana State 5-7 (10-13) / 197 / 235
8) Drake 4-9 (12-12) / 89 / 158
9) Evansville 2-10 (8-15) / 283 / 309
10) Bradley 1-12 (4-18) / 275 / 328
Bradley Probable Starters:
Caroline Waite 5-4 Fr G 13.1 ppg
Tatum Koenig 5-7 Sr G 12.3 ppg
Abby Draper 6-2 Fr F 5.2 ppg (Jeeze! I think there’s an Abby on every team!)
Sierra Morrow 6-1 Jr F 5.9 ppg
Chloe Rice 5-10 Sr G 4.8 ppg
The last time we played them Waite and Koenig each had 13. On the season Bradley is a combined minus 205 in scoring in the first three quarters. They are plus 8 in the fourth quarter. Bradley is 1-5 at home in conference. We are 3-2 on the road in conference.
Here’s a wild statistic: The entire 15 person roster of Bradley has a combined 7,714 minutes of game experience. Abby Brockmeyer and Makenzie Silvey have a combined 7,891 minutes of game experience. Our entire team has over 15,000 combined minutes of experience. (Courtesy of the Bradley Athletics website.)
Warren Nolan.com has us as -14 favorite with an 88% probability of winning.
How We’re Doing:
Can’t look past this game to the big one on Sunday at ISURed. We got several days of much needed rest after our five games in ten days stretch. Coach Stien said we were gassed for most of the Drake game, but put forth the grittiest performance she’s seen this year. Let’s hope after the rest we don’t come out dead legged at the start of this one. Last time against Bradley we were carried by our Big Three pretty much alone, but we’ve been getting good production from others, mainly Q Love and Laniah Randle. Everyone continues to play very good defense.
Also on Friday night, Missouri State is at Illinois State. It would be awesome to get some help from the Lady Bears. Current line is MSU -6 / 70% chance to win. The Lady Bears are looking for some payback after ISU beat them at JQH by one in January. ISU hasn’t played any of the other top teams in The Valley since losing at home to UNI at the end of January. They have us, MoSt, then UNI at Frostbite Falls in three of their next four.
But…Take care of business at Bradley first!
