Craving a McBride Special!
Mak and especially Abby both sounded Gung Ho about going to the WNIT in the post game presser. Abby was like I'm ready to go right now and Mak said we've (the team) more basketball left in us. 4 or 5more games - whatever it is... whatever it takes.
I was going to type this before, but didn't. It would be nice to go to the NCAA Tourney buuuut.... Would you rather be a 14 seed cannon fodder for a one and done in the NCAA Tournament? -OR- Get a seed in the WNIT, get some home games and make a run there.
UNI made all the way to the semifinal last year. And Rice beat a Power 5 school to win it.

Haha! Had to edit my post to remove all that!

good point. i just think of the nit flops on the men's side after disappointing conference tournament losses. that had to be tough for mak and abby to say but i hope they know we are behind them all the way! saluki basketball is saluki basketball and i know everyone here is behind this team. hats off to the band for showing up during break and creating such a great atmosphere for SIU at the hotel and at the game. truly the greatest band in the land! right @obd ?! hope the dawg pound shows up loud and proud at the SIU Arena for a long run in the nit. go salukis.

Oh God.... I remember two of those men's NIT games all too well. The first was that home game we had against Wisconsin Green Bay the guys looked like they were just doing a walk-through and no effort at all. Then the game up at SLU where they were just blown out. I was at both of those. I felt like I should have been wearing a paper bag over my head.
*SORRY the SLU game was before the WGB home game.

Anybody know if the women's team will be back tonight or tomorrow?

Do not understand people who blame officials for losses but take credit for wins. Coach Stein got outcoached and SIU was outplayed. Like it or not entire tournament officiating has allowed physical play. Any ex basketball official posting that it was 5 on 8, really? So by the same logic all 16 victories for SIU in MVC were because officials were on SIU's side. So I guess SIU players do not deserve credit for winning the MVC. Sad that Coach would decide that in her last MVC game to blame the officials. What a classless way to exit
Hell of a season. Regardless of where this team lands (NCAA or WNIT) expect to win! They have to go into it with that mindset and not be intimidated by the competition. Proud of the women for the season they've had thus far and for sending coach Stein out on top.
Wondering who the next coach is going to be. Whomever it is, I just hope and pray they can continue the momentum.
ISUred ended up winning the MVC Tournament, beating UNI 50-48 in the final.
Sickening for a mediocre team to get in over the better team that proved it all season. This is why I hate conference tournament champions getting the automatic bid.
ISUred ended up as a 15-seed and plays at #2 Iowa.
MoState gets in as a First Four In and play Florida St. on Thursday.
Why did Mo State get a bid and over us? Strength of non-conference schedule?

Bears were 44 in NET, SIU was 76
