And Mak gets her 2000 career point. Congrats Mak!

Really rough game for her, though... currently just 4-19 from the field.

82-60 your final.

Purdue shoots 57 percent for the game to SIU's 35 percent.  Dawgs also go just 3-18 from distance (where have I heard THAT before...).

Kind of a bummer end.

-BUT-

We won a Valley title which can't be taken away from these ladies. Coach Stein goes out on a high note after a few bummer prior seasons and finished with a better than .500 record here at Southern. Something not seen since another Cindy roamed the sidelines.

Future HOF'er Silvey joined a rather exclusive club. Only three players in SIU history to score more than 2000.  Another SIU future HOF'er Abby Brockmeyer with an amazing comeback year after COVID and injury. Transfer Gabby Walker gave us her passion and skill, and a last second game winner over a ranked Missouri State team a couple of seasons ago.

We have a lot of offseason questions. We need a home run hire for head coach. We need size in recruiting or through the portal. We could get McCallister and Link back.

Good luck and happy trails to our seniors and Coach Stien! You will be missed, but not forgotten! THANK YOU!

Real shame the @#$! Power 5 committee gave the lower Net rated team home court advantage, which is huge in basketball, especially to a team that relies on the outside shot (like SIU).

Darn sure PU wouldn't have shot anywhere near 57% in a strange arena with strange rims, and we wouldn't have shot anywhere near 35%. Darn sure Silvey would have shot better than 0 for 6 from three.

Still p i s s e d MoSt got an at large instead of us, who had a better conference record and gave them one of their worst losses of the year. And I don't want to hear any crap about Hipp. Check the games she played in...not much of a factor. And they give bids based on sympathy now?  Crap committee completely ignored the MVC games. Just pure BS!

Great season. Great careers for Gabby, Abby, and Mak. Outright MVC Champs. Best in the MVC!

Storybook season by SIU. Non conference matters for MM when it comes to at large bids. Mo State may not belong in NCAA field for sure.. But give most coaches in MVC a choice of Brockmeyer and Walker or Franklin and Hipp most if not all would take the latteThat is just reality. Based on what Committee said I think Mo State did get some sympathy. The question was never whether SIU deserved an at large bid. Mo Stste's entire season put them in consideration not just of the Committee but Creme and other experts. So getting beat by 22 was due to home court advantage? Wow. Can you imagine the score if Iow had been the opponent.

Morris, is that you?

Doubt a single coach would take Hipp over Brockmeyer. Unless they're just stupid!

Most belongs in the tournament. So does SIU.

Redturds do not. Embarrassing 40 pt. loss to a very good Iowa team.

Don't you just love SIU haters?

My post must have not been clear.  Given the choice of the pair of Brockmeyer/Gabby or Franklin/ Hipp is what I meant.  Clearly Brockmeyer is better than Hipp. Anyway, the results pretty well supported the selection of MSU over SIU.  MSU was 5-2 in non conference vs Top 100 SIU was 0-3. In MVC play (including Tournament) MSU 5-3 vs top 100, SIU 4-2. Overall Top 100 MSU 10-5, Siu 4-6. SIU outright winner in MVC.  But Committee considers NET, last 10 games, and injury ramifications.  Last 10 games essentially the same, whole season advantage MSU, and injury a mixed bag.  Yes Franklin, Hipp out but after about 9 games they recovered and got back a player from injury also. The NCAA tournament has Top 50 competition throughout so Committee want teams who have proven they can perform against those teams.  However, MM put it to P5s so more MM need to get in.  I think if SIU had not lost game against Valpo they should have got in also but P5 dominated committee was not going o let any more MM than they felt they had to.  SDS is the team that really got screwed.  NET of 36 and co-champ with SD who just thumped 2 seed Baylor at their place. Yet they were snubbed.

Nothing that comes out of your mouth is right. I think you're that troll who was mad that Stein got the job years ago.

Magical anti-SIU thinking. The results don't support squat! So many factors ignored!

If SIU had been picked, pretty sure they would have whipped Fla. St. since a weaker MoSt team did.

Ignored by you and the committee:

SIU's  65 - 49 butt kicking of Mo State.

SIU MVC Champs!

A disappointed SIU team got screwed, then screwed again by having to play on the road at a team with a worse NET score! Purdue would never have shot 57% at Banterra and Mak would never have gone 0 - 6 from 3.

And Coach Stein was right - the refs in that MVC tournament game sucked.

Good for her for standing up for her team!!!!!

Head coaching position got posted:

https://ncaamarket.ncaa.org/jobs/16468279/head-coach-women-s-basketball

This was posted on the 15th and had a closing date of today the 21st? Sounds like to me the AD already has a short list and we should hear about a hire soon. A lot of coaches are moving around quickly.
