@valleyfb not to be that guy but what in past few years of not competing in the OVC would leave you to believe they are going to fund the program to the level it needs to be when they also have raise funding for MVC in all sports after all SEMO has been more competitive in football lately than the Racers

Coach Hill found a way with a poorly funded program.
@valleyfb facilities were already in place
Nobody said it will easy. Their basketball team will be top tier in the MVC and I think football will make strides and be competitive in 2 or 3 years.

I don't expect either of those things to happen but we shall see.
Murray football has not been in the playoffs for 20 years a quick turnaround in the mvfc would be the equivalent of Kansas becoming a powerhouse in the big 12

So you're saying they have a chance? 😜

I would like to ask the Murray boosters what gives them such optimism when the Racers never elevated their game in the OVC?? Here is a link of the last couple of decades, please tell me what I am missing here.

Loyola hadn't made the NCAA tournament in 30 years and had one appearance since the 1960s. They were rarely competitive in the Horizon.
@spike the watered down Mvc basketball conference after the defections of Creighton and WSU wasn't near as daunting as the best football conference in the Division 1 championship series not to mention the recruiting base of Murray compared to Chicago will also make a huge difference
SIU football was a train wreck before Jerry Kill revived it. There was even serious talk of eliminating it. McAndrew stadium was an eyesore and basically falling down. SIU won the 83 championship and didn't see another playoff berth for 20 years. Up until last spring SIU hadn't made the playoffs for 10 years. Murray will certainly have to make a bigger commitment to football to compete, but SIU has shown it can be done.
